@CWDX_Wiz @RobJailbreakrob @BuzzPatterson Agree. When I was flying one of my biggest worries was runway incursions during takeoff and landing. Always attempted to keep good SA to identify potential threats. But there's not much you can do when someone pulls out in front of you when you're doing 100+ kts.

@RobJailbreakrob @robert30896 @BuzzPatterson Having worked in the cockpit, on the ground driving on the airfield, and as an ATC controller. There is nothing to put on the pilots, they were operating totally within the normals and clearance they were given. The pilots were the only swiss cheese hole at the right place.

Paying $5/gallon for gas to drive to an airport where you'll wait 4 hours to get monitored by untrained ICE agents as thousands of American troops prepare to deploy to the Middle East to fight a needless war. Another day in Donald Trump's America.

why not just pause the TSA for a little bit, let airlines handle security as they did for the eighty years preceding 9/11, and see how it goes?

More low IQ shit from a typical nappy haired loser whose rightful place is in a jungle somewhere trying to catch a rodent for lunch. Instead, he's loose in our society and all he will ever do is make everyone else's life worse while we're forced to pay for it.

@MattWalshBlog Why do you believe that private security would be any better? As a former airline pilot, I remember security pre 9/11; not any better than what we currently have and often indistinguishable from a fast food employee in their level of competence.

The current chaos at airports is just another argument for privatizing airport security. TSA agents are horrible at their jobs. The DHS admitted back in 2017 that, when tested, TSA misses up to EIGHTY PERCENT of weapons and contraband smuggled through screening. And now we have to wait in line for three hours because funding for an incompetent agency with an 80 percent failure rate is being held hostage. The whole thing is insane. Get the government out of airport security. They suck at it. And it's just another bargaining chip these sociopaths can use for their own political agendas.

What Americans get from TSA: You pay the 9/11 security fee on every ticket. You pay federal taxes that fund the ~$10 billion annual TSA budget. You arrive 2 hours early — now 3 or 4. You remove belts, laptops, liquids. You submit to body scanners that several European countries rejected over privacy concerns. You potentially get a pat-down that, if performed by anyone other than a federal employee, would constitute assault. Your bags get searched. Your belongings occasionally go missing. You get barked at by undertrained agents having a bad day. Parents get separated from children at checkpoints. Elderly people get humiliated. Disabled passengers get subjected to invasive searches. Medical equipment gets flagged. Breast milk gets confiscated. People get put on no-fly lists with no clear recourse. What you get in return, per the documented evidence: Zero terrorists caught at a checkpoint in 25 years. A 95% weapons detection failure rate. An agency that investigated itself and found its own complaint process lacks independence. Hundreds of agents fired or suspended for stealing from the very bags they were trusted to screen. The quality of life calculus is staggering when you add it up nationally. TSA screens roughly 2 million passengers per day. If each person loses a conservative 45 minutes of productive time to the security theater ritual — that's 1.5 million hours of American life lost every single day. That's over half a billion hours per year. Time with families. Time on work that matters. Time that belongs to the people it's taken from — without meaningful security in return.

You're free to go to a country you find more suitable to your views. You aren't a prisoner here. Stop trying to fundamentally change a country you chose to move to. And yes, we aren't "normal" nor do we want to be.

@justinkase79 @MCCCANM That was always part of our briefing for multi aircraft flights (Navy jets). If we swapped paint, separate and do slow flight controllability check. Consider short field arrested landing.

A question I’ve received numerous times is “why would the KC-135 stay in the air for a long time & orbit after a collision, instead of just landing immediately?” It could be a number of reasons, but I think the most likely is a “controllability check”. After damage, you’re not sure how the jet will handle. It might be fine right after the incident, but what happens when you slow down? Lower the flaps & gear? Will the flaps even come down? Are you going to lose control? What other damage is there that we don’t know about yet? So, you perform a controllability check at altitude. If the jet becomes unstable as you slow down & configure for landing, it’s better to find that out at 10,000’ than 2,000’. You might get a chance to recover the jet…at 2,000’, you probably won’t. I’m not saying that is the reason, I’m just offering a reasonable possibility.

@Math_files We can also make pairs like 1+99, 2+98, 3+97 and so on. That would leave 50 and 100 out of the pairs. (49*100)+50+100 is therefore also efficient, eventhough it’s less elegant.

When Gauss was 10 years old and attending elementary school, his teacher asked the class to add all the numbers from 1 to 100. A few moments later, young Gauss raised his hand and shouted out the answer, while the other students began tediously adding the numbers one by one. How did he come up with the answer so fast? Young Gauss realized that the sequence could be divided into pairs: the first number, 1, with the last number, 100; the second number, 2, with the second-to-last number, 99; and so on. Each pair would sum to 101. Recognizing that there were 50 pairs in total, Gauss multiplied 50 by 101 to obtain the sum of the sequence. The result, 5050, popped into his head almost instantly.

@JesseMock4 @usmc_colonel As a USN Naval Aviator (tactical jets) we had to do the helo dunker in Pensacola multiple times (initial and refresher quals). Worst was blindfolded and all required to egress out the main ‘cockpit door’.

@usmc_colonel For some reason, we called it the Dilbert Dunker - Down the rails, into the pool, flip upside down, wait til the bubbles stop while you get oriented, unstrap and swim out - Doing it blindfolded sounds like a whole nother level of scary, glad the Navy never thought of that !!
