Earlier today I was carrying out water testing in the River Roding in Ilford & became increasingly annoyed by the insistent buzzing of a helicopter directly overhead. It was only when I saw the police approaching from both sides of the river that I realised it was for me! I know the police have a tough call in these kinds of circumstances, but I’m not convinced that two police cars, half a dozen police, an ambulance, a police boat, helicopter & suspension of flights out of London City Airport were really necessary for the guy in waders & a waterproof collecting samples in a knee deep river.
