Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Nadir, a young Carmelite nun who tragically drowned yesterday in the sea while heroically trying to save her sisters from the waves. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” John 15:13

@poperespecter1 @MattWalshBlog “I obey the pope”. Man you are about as airhead as it gets. There’s no unwavering doctrine for Catholics to agree with that belief. And what kind of Protestant trash are you smoking that for 2000 years capital punishment was okay but in 2018 it was then somehow unacceptable??

I am challenging any death penalty opponent — there are millions of them, allegedly — to step up to the plate right now and explain why this guy should not be executed. His guilt is established beyond any doubt whatsoever. His crime is utterly savage and heinous. Tell us why he doesn’t deserve to die. Go ahead.

Yes you are correct, your own conscience is given by God...the Church informs, we should seriously consider grave matters...but after sincere struggle you must go by your conscience otherwise you are already divided. Even if I am wrong, I will Trust in God anyway, he sees the heart.

@poperespecter1 @MattWalshBlog Not a good take. We owe respect to the churches teachings on prudential matters like this but not dogmatic acceptance. Sincerely engage with the question, why is the churches current teaching correct in this instance? I am also a catechumen but I struggle with this teaching.

@poperespecter1 @Hogbeast89 @MattWalshBlog Following the Pope is good, but Catholics are also called to form our conscience through reason and Tradition. If the Pope reversed the death penalty teaching tomorrow, would your view change? Conscience isn’t just 'whatever the current Pope says.

@swamthetiber25 I go to confession, I find it beneficial but God of course can forgive sins directly. No need to fight each other about it. Whatever brings you peace and clears the air is good.

Scriptural basis for confession to a priest: Jesus set up confession to a priest when He gave His apostles the authority to forgive sins, “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained” (John 20:23). Given the apostles weren't mind readers in order to forgive or retain sins, people had to actually tell them what those sins were. St. Paul calls this “the ministry of reconciliation”, “God… gave us the ministry of reconciliation… We are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:18–20). Through His priests, Christ continues that work of reconciling people to Himself. It is always God who forgives, but He chooses to do so through the ministry of His priests. The Bible also tells us to confess our sins out loud: “Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed” (James 5:16). Just a couple of verses earlier, James instructs calling the elders of the Church to pray and anoint, showing that confession was meant to be done with those holding spiritual authority. This idea goes back to the Old Testament. God worked through His priests then as well, “The priest shall make atonement for him… and he shall be forgiven” (Leviticus 19:21–22). And confession was always spoken aloud, “When anyone becomes aware that they are guilty… they must confess in what way they have sinned” (Leviticus 5:5).

@donpoopencio @AtheistTakes Exactly, the Song of Songs is a full on erotic masterpiece... and at the same time a beautiful allegory of divine union. One of my absolute favorites in the entire Bible.

@AtheistTakes The Bible has an entire book about a husband wanting to bang his wife and the wife wanting to get it on. Its always obvious when an atheist has never bothered to even read the thing they hate so much.

I am a super genius according to IQ Spark. Genuinely thought my IQ was 80. I know it's not accurate compared to a real IQ test, but it's fun to feel like a super genius.

Low-key contemplating this whole Catholic thing. I was at mass for a second time and this old lady right in front of me let out a silent but deadly fart while we were standing and I felt trapped. Like I had to shut my mouth and be a good little boy. Was that shit a sign from God?

Men are extremely vulnerable to suicide between the ages of 45-54. A deep hopelessness sets in when they realize that they checked all of the so-called fulfillment boxes and life still feels empty. Why is that? Why are married men in their 40s so hopeless, depressed, and lonely?

@elyawda That is very admirable...you will pick up some Latin as you go...more important is daily practice, doing even little thing with love, offering up every quiet hidden sacrifice to the Lord. Also find a Saint that you like to be an example, I recommend St.Theresa of Lisieux. 🙏
