I don't understand why the U.S. strategy is organized around containing Iran. We should be friends instead of enemies. Israel is the main problem in the Middle East. Not a realistic view, I know, but it seems pretty obvious.

@Phaed @bonchieredstate @neoavatara Yes "allowing", which is what allies do by default. And there is no "Hormuz demand". Just Trump correctly pointing out that if EU countries try to hinder US attempts to open the strait, then they can either do it themselves or live with the high oil prices.

@rokbranch @bonchieredstate @neoavatara Those words sure do some heavy lifting there. "Refraining from banning"... AKA *allowing*. Allowing offensive actions through their airspace. If someone did that against the US, you'd be more than eager to call it "jumping into war". And still nothing about Trump's Hormuz demand.

I refuse to believe you guys don't see the problem here. It's one thing for the Europeans not to provide direct support for the operation. It's another for France to deny the use of its airspace for cargo deliveries or for the UK to muddle over domestic base usage. There is no point in being in an alliance that can't provide such basic guarantees of cooperation.

@GrantrGregory @EveryoneKnws1 @thehill No trial lawyer can win against a leftist activist judge. It simply needs to be overturned on appeal, like so many other insane rulings by leftist activist judges with a god complex already have been.

@rokbranch @EveryoneKnws1 @thehill Oh man - why weren’t you the head counsel on this case?! You could’ve won with an argument like that! The judge in his opinion cited 3 specific laws that say these renovations are illegal. What contradictory legal statute do you have in your back pocket? Bring it forward!

@Xxx2ohio @NeverDeleteX @thehill The flower beds with the roses were not touched. The reception area *near* the flower beds, where people gather during events, is now (wheelchair and high heels friendly) patio rather than grass. So what? Imagine being this desperate for something to be outraged by.

@EveryoneKnws1 @thehill Idc what you think it is. The law says that Congress makes these decisions. It’s not his house! It’s our house! I swear to god you people would support razing the whole building to put up gaudy high rise towers if Trump told you to.

@bonchieredstate @neoavatara If the US do not actually want a defensive agreement, but rather one where they have vassal states that just jump into war whenever they tell them to, they are free to do so. But in the end, that will not work that well for their global position.

Only time in history article 5 was invoked to defend BATO was after 9-11. Every NATO country cane to our aid. Every time a war was started in the middle east it was started by the United States. Every time our allies helped us. Now Trump ridicules our allies every day. He says we don’t need Europe. He started this war on his own without even notice to the American citizens, let alone our allies. So yeah, not surprising Europe told him to go fuck himself.

@Wh4th3fu @LegallyDashing @scotus_wire Laws *can* restrict doctors' professional speech if the law meets the "strict scrutiny" standard. A law which demands that on a hot-button metaphysical political issue like gender, all doctors must consent to the *leftist* viewpoint, is pure lunacy and does not pass scrutiny.

@LegallyDashing @scotus_wire The question was if talk therapy, as a medical treatment and professional service regulated by the state, constitutes "speech". Ruling that it does seems to conflict with past rulings that determined a state IS allowed to require or restrict doctor's speech

@DurstofTimes @LegallyDashing @scotus_wire Telling a boy the truth that he is, in fact, a boy, is not "torture". The batshit insane Woke-extremist Colorado law demanded that all doctors *only* convey Woke viewpoints when talking to patients, and never express un-Woke opinions or facts on gender. Viewpoint discrimination.

I don't know what's more disgusting, the replies to this post, or that I'm not surprised by them. Some say heroes are people who save lives. By giving the most marginalized among us a safe space to be themselves, Amanda Shea is doing just that, and should be celebrated for it.

What would the response look like if Iran intentionally bombed journalists from the FT, BBC, CNN, NYT, Reuters, etc. and the headlines were “Pro-US journalists killed,” “Pro-NATO journalists killed”, “Pro-Israel journalists killed”?

Images show what experts say are U.S. land mines dispersed across a residential area in southern Iran. Human rights groups have long called to ban land mines because of their propensity to harm or kill civilians, often years after conflicts have ended. wapo.st/41hPU2N

Some of the stuff there is just whiny opinions. But it sure would be nice if the impressive front grand staircase actually led into the building. I know a lot of buildings have lost this over time, mostly due to ADA requirements.... But on a new design and build, it should be feasible?
