Love the new playoff format. For those complaining 8/9 teams make the playoffs, the flip side is: A) every game matters as teams battle down stretch to get in/seeding B) can no longer advance to Grey Cup by winning only one playoff game C) top teams can earn two playoff gates

@MiltStegallTSN 18 games focused on seeding to eliminate just 1 team is crazy. And in the current setup, aren't we focused on seeding anyway? Top 2 teams get a bye and only have to win 1 game to play for the Cup. Agreed on expansion, though. If it was possible it would've already happened.

@ravira @CFL I'll admit this messaging sounds a lot better but it's still a sticking point that we'll go 18 games to eliminate 1 team and just spend 4 months worrying about where everyone else will slot. This playoff format would look way better with more teams the CFL doesn't have.

Messaging the @CFL needs to make clear: Only 6 of 9 teams will actually be in the playoffs. Teams 5 through 8 need to win a game to earn their way into the actual playoffs, which is why that component is called a "play in."

Big fan of the new CFL playoff format starting in 2027. There will be more playoff games. Top two teams in each division will play and winner moves to 3rd round. Loser plays in second round. And play in games with seeds 5 v. 8 and 6. v. 7. Winners move to 2nd round to play the losers of 1/2 matchup. Also season will start in late May and end November 7th.

Here’s my take on the new CFL playoff format: Do I think the league is convinced that overall this is an improvement? No I’m not. But I’m not ignorant to the fact that going from 5 to 9 playoff games is a major financial boost at a time the league is negotiating new media deals. Everyone wants a healthy CFL. So if this is what it takes i’ll live it. Even if I don’t love it. #CFL

just feel like the optics of only ONE team technically missing the playoffs after months of football cannot be ignored 10th team is really needed now, even if just to fix that lol i've wanted change to the format, but expansion of it never really crossed my mind until today
