@jik_wtf @firworksyt @SnazzyLabs Im assuming OP has the same complaints as me. The key combos are hostile compared to windows/linux. Moving from ctrl & shift combos to command, option, shift feels like a huge step backwards. The controls aren’t natural, forcing me to do some finger gymnastics to do basic tasks.

The hackintosh subreddit is filled with goodbye posts and pictures of new M4 Mac minis. 5-years-ago, I was building PCs to run macOS because Mac hardware was abysmal. Now, people want Apple's hardware to run Windows and Linux because it's so good. How the turntables...

@boulderbrett @Starlink @onenzofficial @ATT No, you need a OneNZ SIM with contract and despite what Elon said this only works with 4 particular models of Android phone right now. No voice calls or data, only SMS … and it takes around 3 minutes to send each SMS. #eligible-phones-and-plans" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">one.nz/why-choose-us/…

@UlyssesTruth The thing is, Labour didn’t spend us into oblivion. Sure, NZ is in debt… but by international standards not badly so. Things were picking up post-COVID.

@ClintVSmith Labour spent us into economic oblivion, only the austerity of ACT can save us from the middling muddling of National, we need real deep cuts across the P.S. deep down to the 4th level

So Avsec are now blaming people arriving in Auckland for the Coldplay concert for causing massive delays at security screening for people departing. How dumb do they think we are?

@sponno No, wait. I switched to a Motorola ROKR right before the iPhone came out. The ROKR was a candy bar phone … a Motorola/Apple collaboration. It had native iTunes sync but was brutally slow. The iPhone was the ROKR on steroids.

Found this article from 2007 - about how you had to hack an iphone just to use it in NZ. But it made me think. what was the last phone you owned before the iPhone?

The @FlyAirNZ app is now sending 2FA codes via WhatsApp and that just feels super-icky. I really don’t feel comfortable about that. Anyone else, or just me?

hey @WestpacNZ got a phone call from one of your mortgage managers and they sent me a 2FA code via SMS. How do I know it’s not a login request for online banking and actually legit? I refused to give them the code and it was a bit awkward.

@dairymanNZ I saw this post last night and then had to deal with this Wpac verification just now. I refused to give them the code on the grounds it looks like a 2FA code and they were able to verify me with name/dob/address. I’m not happy about it.

Westpac called me "Before we continue,I need to verify your identity, please state your full legal name" I do so "I'm now sending a code to the number I just called, please read it back to me" Um, that seems incredibly dumb but okay

@damnyeahbaby @GregPresland At least maybe it would get done? I feel like whatever we have at the moment in way of supplying fresh water to folk across NZ really isn’t working and hasn’t been for quite some time.

The CTU has taken a look at the costs of the Cook Strait Ferry upgrade (sometimes called the IReX Project). It's a huge deal, with a huge price tag. The recent decision by the Coalition Government to end it however should be viewed against the other decisions they have made. A 🧵

@TradeMe Kia ora! I almost got scammed, just sent through a support ticket 4076369 with details and I know that at least one other Trade Me user has sent the scammer money in the last two hours. Any chance you could escalate this ticket?

@cutaway_cafe @antiboomerparty When I did engineering at UoC the grades were sculpted after marking so that a % passed/failed many of the courses. iirc first year engineering as a whole had a 50% pass rate.

@antiboomerparty At one early stage the entire system could — and was — moved up or down to generate the ‘right’ number of passes/fails. I kid you not

Can anyone who was alive when it happened please explain why nz adopted Ncea? Seems silly to have a bespoke system when we can tag on to Cambridge (or IB, and help kids prepare for SATs) & allow for transferability

I keep reading articles about how nobody in NZ is buying FIFA tickets. So, let’s buy some FIFA tickets. First I need to decide if I’m an Australian or NZ “resident”. (I think this is a translation hiccup — it should be “NZ Matches” or “Australian Matches”.)
