The U.S. withdrawal from the World Health Organization is a shortsighted and misguided abandonment of our global health commitments. Our statement: bit.ly/4jWGJgy

Decades of rigorous and scientifically sound research have proven that vaccines do not cause autism. CDC’s decision to change language on its website reversing that finding is reckless and harmful. Our statement w/ @HIVMA, @APIC, @SHEA_Epi & @SIDPharm: bit.ly/3XEc0KH

If someone thinks the measles outbreak and childhood death in Texas are "not unusual" or that these things "happen all the time", they are deeply misinformed. Don't be fooled. blogs.jwatch.org/hiv-id-observa…

Inspired by a discussion on inpatient rounds this week with super ID fellow @GaboMotoa, here are a couple of great @CIDJournal perspectives that challenge the status quo on infection control practices. First up, MRSA. doi.org/10.1093/cid/ci… 1/x

@PaulSaxMD Empiric observation during travel, theater, and dining 99% no precautions yet case loads while up far less than when more precautions = much less transmissible

This is an important unanswered question. If we assume viral kinetics correlate with contagiousness (reasonable), I suspect asymptomatic spread is less common now than before we had widespread immunity. Doesn't mean zero risk, but much lower. doi.org/10.1093/cid/ci…
Meg Lamm@meglopolis

@PaulSaxMD Is it still useful for people to test before a gathering when they don't have symptoms? Is there still asymptomatic spread? Or are people only contagious after a few days of symptoms?

Anyone can get an infection, and almost any infection, including flu, can lead to sepsis. If you or your loved one has an infection that’s not getting better or is getting worse, ACT FAST and get medical care IMMEDIATELY. bit.ly/2SeFYT9 #SAM2023

@PaulSaxMD Excellent panorama discussion. What about Time to tx. Pax 67% < 3d, MOVEout 48% < 3d, Panorama 3d criteria. Time to start with antiviral critical for benefit.
