Big Win 👏for NRNs : The Government of Nepal has proposed a landmark policy shift to strengthen ties with the global Nepali diaspora. Under the new “National Commitment” framework, plans are underway for constitutional and legal amendments to ensure Citizenship Continuity for Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs). Beyond recognition, the proposal includes voting rights in national elections and guarantees for owning and inheriting ancestral property - removing long-standing bureaucratic barriers. Bro was given a challenge to find a single poster or advertisement of new PM Balen. Bro walked almost 8 to 10 km, couldn’t find a single poster of PM Balen. Bro was almost about to faint, this is the busiest market of Kathmandu, which was highly filthy a few years ago, now stands almost clean. PM Balen shows it is all about intention, being fair to the oath and citizens of the nation. So at least the first Hindu country is now getting cleaned under an honest leader, who is not here for unchecked greed of power and to fool its citizens.

The Government of Nepal has released the National Commitment Document on Baishakh 1, 2083(what a good day to start) I've tried to quick breakdown of what stands out for the IT sector in general: For IT Industry to make ready in global level: - IT sector will be declared a national strategic industry, and an IT Promotion Board will be established. - Global companies will be encouraged to establish development and innovation centers in Nepal. - A “From Nepal to the World” campaign will be launched to make Nepali IT companies globally competitive. - IT companies will be provided with tax incentives. Encouraging Local IT companies : - Special incubation centers and IT parks will be developed to promote digital entrepreneurship. - Public procurement policies will be reformed to encourage development of software and applications within Nepal for government and public use. - An Innovation Fund will be established to support young entrepreneurs with Mentorship, Investment security and Financial & institutional support AI is on priority: -Nepal aims to become an exporter of AI and computing power within the next five years. - High priority will be given to innovation in Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI - A Sovereign Large Language Model (LLM) will be developed Priority on overall IT sector : - National programs will be launched to train youth in emerging technologies. - Investment in digital skills will be increased, and digital literacy. - Digital Nepal Framework will be updated, and the Nagarik App will be developed into a super app. - Nepal will develop its own satellite infrastructure to ensure basic telecommunications and digital connectivity in rural and remote areas. - Priority investment will be made in Communication and public infrastructure, Data centers, Cloud services, Cybersecurity, Personal data privacy and protection frameworks and high speed connectivity This is the great beginning, I am more than excited to see how this unfolds. thoughts about building saas in the slop era: - all new fails. start with what already works, make one thing better - you have no right to change proven solutions - point solutions with decent api wins unless every new piece of your platform is 95% as good as the alternative (triplewhale and post purchase surveys, klaviyo and reviews) - adding ai to a thing is not a product strategy - you can have correct instinct but totally wrong idea and solution. ai slop magnifies this - users say they want insights but they actually just want to watch a number go up, charts are an entertainment product for business people - cross sell adoption on new products is always smaller than you think - expectations for quality have gone up. tech people expect linear-level polish now - build new stuff through the lens of the user, not what you vision or investors push you to do. slop always fails - proven, better, new. in that order. (listen to mark pincus. he got beaten up by supercell copying farmville and just making it better on mobile as hay day.)

UPI in Nepal is a win-win for both nations, enabling seamless cross-border transactions. 🇮🇳🤝🇳🇵 Indian tourists can simply scan a QR code, pay in INR with real-time NPR conversion, and skip the forex hassle entirely. With 30% of Nepal's tourists being Indian, this makes travel smoother than ever. Meanwhile, Nepal's own digital payment revolution is in full swing. Mobile banking, digital wallets (eSewa, Khalti), and QR codes are now the norm from Kathmandu streets to rural shops. QR-based payments have surged ~230% annually, and this spans all 77 districts. Nepal is going digital-first.

Stop blaming Kathmandu only for pollution and making headlines with it being the most polluted in the planet. We don’t produce these pollutants, others do. And since we have huge mountains in the north and Kathmandu being a deep valley, it gets trapped here. Polluters must pay us to clean up.

I think @stripe just mass produced a business model for every AI startup on earth and increased their TAM exponentially. Customer buys a shirt for $40, Stripe takes 2.9% + 30 cents. It's a simple formula, but token billing is completely different. AI costs are variable. They shift by model, by provider, by week. A startup using Claude for 40% of inference and GPT-4o for 60% has a blended cost structure that changes every time Anthropic or OpenAI adjusts pricing... which is constantly. Stripe is now ingesting those real-time model prices, applying the startup's target markup, metering per-customer usage, and generating the invoice automatically. That's constructing unit economics at a scale and complexity far beyond anything in traditional payments. And the data asset being created by them is a massive moat. OpenAI knows what OpenAI charges, and Anthropic knows what Anthropic charges. But Stripe will know what every model charges, what every startup pays, what every startup marks up, and what every end customer actually consumes. But the gateway is where this gets really interesting. Stripe's AI gateway routes inference, returns the response, and attributes tokens to the customer in one API call. Today it's "pick the best model." Tomorrow it's "Stripe recommends the model that optimizes your target margin across 12 providers in real time." The moment that recommendation engine turns on, model providers start competing on Stripe's terms. Pricing power inverts from provider to platform. This is AWS turned sideways (or i guess diagonally). Amazon didn't build apps... they built the infrastructure every app depended on, then used the data to optimize the infrastructure itself. Stripe is running the same playbook on AI economics instead of AI compute. I truly believe that token billing will make Stripe the most strategically important company in tech that doesn't train a model.
