The 2000 remake of "Gone in 60 Seconds" is a perfect example of what they took from us. Nicolas Cage is a hot-shot car thief who commands respect. His mom loves him. His brother loves him. Even the cops on his trail admire him. Angelina Jolie is the ONE female lead and she loves the hero too. The late Robert Duvall plays his mentor and loves him too. When his brother’s life is threatened, he assembles a team of elite badasses who must steal 50 cars in a single night. 97% of the cast is male. All the manly virtues are on display—redemption, loyalty, courage, honor. Epic car chases and explosions dominate the screen. No girlbosses interfere with the story. All the men survive EXCEPT the bad guy. And here's the important part: IT'S FUN. It’s a simple formula that pleased blockbuster audiences for decades. Why do they keep breaking it?

I asked AI: Who benefits financially if Europe brings in low/no income low educated non-culturally aligned welfare seekers from the third world? "There are identifiable financial beneficiaries, and this is well-documented in immigration economics literature. Here's who actually profits: 1. Employers in low-wage sectors - Construction, agriculture, food processing, cleaning, logistics - Labor supply increase suppresses wages, boosting margins - Reduces pressure to automate or improve conditions 2. Landlords & property owners - Housing demand spikes in urban areas → rent increases - Existing homeowners see property value appreciation - Slum landlords and housing associations benefit most directly 3. Migration industry - Lawyers, NGOs, translators, integration consultants - This is a multi-billion euro industry in Germany, Sweden, Netherlands alone - NGOs often receive per-head government funding — direct financial incentive to maximize intake 4. Retail & consumer goods - Raw volume of consumers increases - Governments often provide vouchers/cash that flows directly into consumption 5. Governments (short-term optics) - GDP headline number goes up with population growth - Politicians can claim “growth” while GDP per capita may stagnate or fall Who Bears the Costs - Native low-skilled workers — direct wage competition, most economically vulnerable - Taxpayers — welfare, housing, education, healthcare, judicial costs - Public service users — longer queues, diluted services - Lower-middle class neighborhoods — concentrated social externalities It’s essentially a privatization of gains, socialization of costs structure Employers and landlords capture upside; diffuse taxpayer population absorbs downside. This is why mainstream economists who focus on aggregate GDP often support high immigration while working-class populations in receiving areas oppose it: they’re experiencing completely different economic realities. George Borjas (Harvard) vs. Card/Peri debate covers this empirically in depth if you want the academic trail."

@levelsio It's crazy because every time it looks like a European country is reclaiming its sanity They pull something like this off What's the reasoning behind this?

This is why Zelenskyy is openly threatening Viktor Orbán’s life. Hungary just intercepted Ukrainian armored vehicles transporting $40 million USD, €35 million, and 9 kg of gold seized on suspicion of money laundering. Seven Ukrainians detained, including a former intelligence officer. Kyiv claims it’s legitimate, declared funds from Raiffeisen Bank Austria under a standard agreement and calls the action “hostage-taking” and theft. But with Orbán blocking massive EU aid/loans to Ukraine and tensions over Russian oil transit exploding, this “coincidence” exposes the real stakes. Zelenskyy’s regime is furious because the grift is getting exposed. No more blank checks. Hungary is the only one standing up.

@PianoTalent @AlenaShterenbrg @it_unprofession They can enforce it through app licenses. If you don't install the MDM profile you won't get any of the managed (preconfigured and licensed) school apps. Even if you were to buy the apps yourself, teachers probably wouldn't know how to link "private" iPads to virtual classrooms.

My kid's school just sent an email about their "1:1 device program." Every student gets an iPad. The school is very excited about "technology-enhanced learning." The iPad costs $800. Paid by parents. Plus $200/year for "device insurance and management." I asked what happens if we don't want to buy the iPad. They said it's mandatory for the curriculum. So it's a $1,000 textbook that plays games and breaks when you drop it. I asked what software they're using that requires an iPad specifically. Teacher said "various educational apps." I asked which ones. She sent me a list. I looked them up. They all have web versions that work on any device. So they don't need iPads. They want iPads. And they're making parents pay for it. But I can't be the parent who fights the iPad program because then I'm the asshole who doesn't support education technology. So I'm writing a $1,000 check for an iPad my kid will use to watch YouTube during class. The school gets to say they're "innovative." Apple gets to sell 500 iPads. Parents get to fund it. And in three years they'll switch to Chromebooks and we'll do this again.

Anyone else had an "Old moment"? I had a customer this week who, after 20+ minutes of banter, stared at me and said, "I bet you were really pretty when you were young". He meant well. He was in his 20s and he thought it a compliment. But I remember being in my 20s and looking at "old" people, and thinking the same. It dawned on me that outwardly, I'm no longer who I am inwardly. My next customer was in her 80s and I took that on board. We had a really good laugh, (no noise coming out laughter) and I ended up glad he'd said that. We were all young once. Enjoy it. You're a long time dead.

🟨#GOLD: Key Levels as Resistance Tested My baseline expectation is for #gold to spend a few months digesting recent gains and consolidating between the $3500 and $3000 levels. More importantly, if #gold can maintain its footing in the top half of that range ($3250-$3500), the chances of #silver and Jr Mining stocks playing "catch up" are greatly increased.  (This is my baseline expectation, and the price action this week in $silver validates that view.) Key Levels to Watch in $Gold: 🟢 Support: -Green Trendline Support (Lower Rail of Triangle Pattern) -$2800-$3000, Reinforced by Rising 200MA ($2881) 🔴 Resistance: -$3425, Reinforced by Red Upper Rail of Triangle Pattern -$3509.90 All-Time High (ATH) It's nice to see all of our focus sectors beginning to run at the same time, with lots of runway ahead this decade.  It sure is more fun navigating these crazy markets alongside a likeminded group, keeping one another sharp along the way!

Germany did polling. If Germany were to be invaded, how many men would be willing to fight to defend. It was 16%. In America it is over 55%. If Germans were asked to go to Ukraine to fight against Russia, it would be 0%. Germany's new goal is to increase their military from 180,000 today to 460,000 (active and reserve). They don't even remotely have the population willing to do that. Their men don't support what the government stands for. The govt is destroying the country with it's immigration and economic policies. The young men have mostly decided it's not worth fighting for.

@MichaelAArouet Haha there was actually a fun incident at the London office of a US tech company. Women have been complaining about the gender pay gap so HR looked into it and found that women were actually making more money for the same jobs so they had to raise the salaries for male colleagues

There is no such thing as a gender pay gap. A female pilot earns exactly the same as a male pilot. A male flight attendant earns exactly the same as a female flight attendant. There are simply more male pilots than female pilots. Got it now?

@1978stappi @MichaelBroecker @kaiwegner @CDU Politiker wie Kai Wegner haben längst vergessen, wem bzw. dass sie überhaupt Rechenschaft schulden. think I finally understand why many women complain about men so much. At its core, it comes the frustration that men do not think, process, or experience the world the way women do. women struggle with having to verbalize their needs….to explain what’s wrong and spell things out emotionally. They wish men would simply anticipate and intuit without being told. When that doesn’t happen, it feels exhausting and unfair. This is why ideas like “mental load” and “emotional labor” keep coming up…not because men are malicious, but because men do not naturally think in the same constant, anticipatory, emotionally layered way women do. Men tend to be more linear, task-focused, and present-oriented, while women lean toward overthinking, future-projection, perfectionism, and emotional vigilance. That difference breeds resentment. Instead of accepting these differences, many women try to push men to adopt feminine emotional traits…hyper-empathy, constant emotional processing, and anticipatory caretaking…which do not come naturally to most men. This is why phrases like “emotional intelligence,” “if he wanted to, he would,” and “a real man would notice” are often used. They assume men should operate with the same internal wiring as women, which they simply do not.
