I am writing to share my exasperation and frustration with the systems and procedures of #IndianCustoms.
My Daughter, In USA, sent me B'Day gift - a book ordered from
longchamp paris- to be delivered by
@dhl
at Mumbai, after paying duty, taxes, shipping, etc.
Couple of weeks ago, I received a SMS link asking me to prove my #KYC to receive a gift sent from France. Documents I submitted were rejected three times. Reason was mentioned address mismatch or Incomplete. Deatils missing was my flat number & Locality , Detials present is My name , contact number, Email add, Building name, State, City with Pin code, they are not ready to accent the KYC document saying customs is not clearing the same.
If my KYC is not complete then how come i am getting calls & mail. It has been nearly two weeks since the consignment reached

All this is for the Customs to clear a gift of a small bag sent by my Daughter . Not a contraband, not an expensive gadget, just a book packed with love and affection.
How much time and energy, of how many people, been invested for 'trying to clear' a simple small tote bag! What's the message here? One can imagine the plight of those importing commercial goods.
The consignment has not been cleared, as yet. I suppose, it might not be. I have no way of knowing.
It is possible, this may not be the norm. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile reviewing the procedures in vogue and simplify and streamline the system.
