"as a result of this inequality, the availability, accessibility, and quality of schools vary significantly across neighbourhoods. And existing infrastructure, the built environment, and local interventions in each neighbourhood sustain spatial segregation"lnkd.in/d9T9w8EV

Justice Verma Committee report of February 2013 recommended - “street lighting everywhere would provide more safety since dark areas are more prone to facilitate crimes.” In addition, “Street vending should be encouraged to make the bus stops and footpaths safe for communities."

During our #SafeSchoolZone workshop, the students of SKV, Hari Nagar Ashram noted that waterlogging their school made their daily commute difficult exposing them to ailments.

The Ministry of Urban Development guidelines known as ‘Harmonised guidelines for space standards for barrier-free built environment for person with disability and elderly persons’ issued in 2016 specify that footpaths “be not more than 150 mm high”. #roadsafetyweek2023

Only segregated cycle tracks don't help. They are important but a lazy choice, imo. The key is to make crossings/junctions safer. That is where cyclists are not moving parallel to the traffic stream and are exposed to multiple lanes of traffic.
