@thsottiaux I don’t miss the five hour limit and it’s not because I have spare resets. I still am able to ration weekly limits but no longer find myself waiting for a five hour limit to complete a larger task.

We've had no 5h limit in Codex plus and pro for a few days. Do you think it is better or are you finding it difficult to manage the usage included in the weekly limit effectively? If we were to make this different, what should it look like in an ideal world?

Added a banked reset to 500k users of ChatGPT Work and Codex. What’s been happening: - Just released the ability to use a banked reset from web and mobile. Before today you could only do it in the desktop app - Had an issue where less than 10% of users who used a banked reset and it didn’t actually reset. This was during a 2 hour window. - It was hard to find all the exact users where it didn’t apply, so instead granted a banked reset to everyone who pressed the reset button in that 2 hour window. This also gives us the opportunity to validate the new infra ahead of tomorrow Tomorrow we will celebrate our 7M active users milestone and grant the first banked reset across all of our ChatGPT Work and Codex users. We will also release a bunch of updates to the desktop app, addressing a ton of your feedback. Talk soon

@jun_song I don’t think OpenAI should be clumped into Anthropic’s crap business practices as the two companies handle customer relations very differently.

Expect Fable-5 and GPT-5.6-Sol might be available only with new $500/month subscription.

@sethrose @OpenAIDevs @thsottiaux I think this is a smart middle ground. It doesn’t reduce OpenAI’s revenue or increase the amount of compute users receive. It simply lets users redeem the value they’ve already accumulated in smaller increments. That’s a usability improvement, not a pricing change.

I'd like to propose @OpenAIDevs / @thsottiaux a modification to the Usage Limit functionality for "ChatGPT Codex". Current Problem: When the 5-hour usage limit is reached, users are blocked even when they still have plenty of weekly usage remaining. The current workaround is to use a full reset, but that feels wasteful because it resets both limits when only the 5-hour allowance is exhausted. I’d like to propose a proportional option for banked resets, so users don’t have to spend a full reset just to recover from the shorter 5-hour limit. For example, each banked reset could be used as either: - 3–4 five-hour resets, or - 1 full reset covering both the weekly and current 5-hour limits. Once that’s in place, an optional opt-in Auto-Use setting could automatically apply a five-hour reset when the 5-hour limit is reached.
