How I broke out of the $200 plateau after 4 months and hit $305:
- stopped overcomplicating and focused on organic
- dropped annual plan to $15 + 3-day trial
- accepted the MRR drop to get more cashflow
Next step: localize the app to enter new markets

I'm building my first iOS app and it's been a fun journey so far
Things I've learnt (so you don't have to):
1. you NEVER get into App Store on your first attempt. Expect 3+ rejections on your first app. Just fix what they tell you to, and keep going.
2. do not waste time on your App Store mocks ups. If you have no design experience, just take screenshots of your app's features, go to Canva (get on their free 30-day trial and cancel it after, costs you $0) and make simplest mock ups. Do not overthink it. If your app's UI is enticing, mock ups will be too.
3. do not submit an app that doesn't have all features built. If you promise something in onboarding, make sure the app actually has the capability to deliver it before you submit to App Store.
4. take your time with creating your app's onboarding flow. Think customer-first. Use the 5 Whys theory to get to the bottom of what your user needs to use your app consistently without being prompted.
5. ship once, market forever. Ship v1 and stop building. Ideally you start marketing during the build (once you have the backbone of the app ready) as all you need are a few screenshots and /or screen recording to go to your marketing content. That's how I got my first 4-figure views on TikTok before even submitting my app to App Store (link your waitlist in CTA).
6. don't be afraid of asking for help. Speak to people who've done it and became successful by creating apps. Learn from their experience so you can avoid some of the mistakes.
7. believe it's going to happen for you. It might feel like a distant dream, or some cringy scheme to get rich by building apps, but I know people in my real life who quit their jobs because their app was bringing more money..
it's real. so put real effort in.

For the past week, I've noticed that many people are installing my app, and around 90% complete the onboarding process. However, when they reach the final paywall screen, they drop out.
I'm concerned about why, after 26 steps in the onboarding process, users are not converting.
Here are my pricing tiers:
- $4.99 per week
- $34.99 per year
This month has been relatively successful, but I need to address this problem.
Do you have any suggestions?
