At his assessment, sat in his wheelchair, he cried when told he was fit to work because he could pick up a pound coin between his finger and thumb. I insist on using a full stop at the end of sentences when I send text messages. Apparently, my junior employees hate this and our HR liaison had a word about it. It's not that I don't care but I've been writing for 47 years now. Changing that muscle memory is hard.

Torsten Bell is a really important appointment. Pension fund reform needs a fresh impetus and more readiness to take on spurious arguments defending vested interests - for example blocking the creation of a second Pension Protection Fund. If Bell can’t do it, no-one can.
