RTE Radio 1 published this phone interview with Seamus Culleton, an Irish national held by ICE in Texas since September, says he “fears for his life” in detention. Culleton lived in the U.S. for 20 years, is married to a U.S. citizen, and was detained despite holding a valid license and work permit. He said people have been killed by the staff.

An Irish immigrant with a valid US work permit has been held in ICE detention in Texas for nearly five months despite having no criminal record, the Irish Times reports. Seamus Culleton, who has lived in the US for over 20 years, is married to a US citizen and was in the final stages of a green card application when he was arrested in September. He describes detention conditions akin to a “concentration camp,” limited access to outdoors, and constant hunger. A judge initially approved his release on bond, but the US government later blocked it. His lawyer says the case is highly unusual and reflects arbitrary enforcement by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE did not respond with comment on the story at the time of publication. If they can disappear permanent residents, they can disappear citizens too, and it won’t stop at protesters. They’re using the issue of Palestine as a test run because they know democratic leadership will be slow to respond, allowing them to normalize abducting whoever they want

UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is. They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there. They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.
