I have to disagree with Jon on this. Any golfer playing at the masters could have done the same and chose not to. He wanted to win the second time and did what he needed to do. Other golfers could have done the same. This sort of reeks of sports socialism to me. Because other golfers did not do it, even though they could have done it, we should penalize Rory.

A lot of the conversation around Rory McIlroy's "unfair advantage", especially from golf media, is completely missing the point... There's no reason there shouldn't be a cap on the amount of times golfers can play Augusta the month prior to The Masters, whether they're past champs or not. This ensures there isn't a blatant competitive disparity. Yes, golfers that qualify for the tournament can access the course the month prior, but everyone can't skip three straight tournaments* & fly private whenever they want to Augusta. *Again, this encourages top golfers to skip tournaments, devaluing those tournaments for broadcast partners, patrons, & sponsors. For example, if the cap is 3-4 practice rounds at Augusta the month prior to the tournament, consider them like timeouts. Use them or lose them. Problem solved. Debate over. Past champions still get their well-deserved perks, but they don't get a blatant unfair advantage.

Iran is unlikely to back down. It will likely test U.S. resolve by targeting American naval assets, while also attempting to disrupt commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz or deter tankers from transiting altogether.
Such developments would almost certainly trigger a sharp spike in global oil prices, with cascading second and third order effects particularly across Asian economies that rely heavily on Gulf energy flows. At the same time, Iran will aim to project resilience and avoid appearing to capitulate under pressure.
Further escalation would increase the likelihood of Houthi action in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, potentially threatening another critical maritime chokepoint. It would also raise the risk of Iranian strikes against infrastructure designed to bypass Hormuz, including pipelines such as the East-West corridor.
While Iran would sustain significant damage, it will attempt to maintain oil exports through alternative routes like the Jask terminal, calculating that Gulf states may ultimately suffer greater economic harm.
In any case, this is not a scenario with a clear winner, only varying degrees of loss.

@abarmard7 @citrinowicz Many of the Gulf states (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, etc.) support the U.S. and not Iran. Iran is the outlier. I would say the leading state sponsor of terrorism has more than met the definition of chaotic.
