As @bcndp muzzle HCWers, threaten license suspensions, heavy fines, even jail time for speaking up, hammer down FOI & data (also controlling media) our authoritarian government continues to harm, not protect. Western Premiers aligned in this obfuscation. Withholding info, kills…
Ryan Hisner@LongDesertTrain

@ChristineGuent8 @jlerollblues I don't think BC publishes reports like this. It looks like they stopped reporting on Covid in September 2023.

“I had Covid and I’m fine”, is a statement I hear a lot. Unfortunately it doesn’t account for the hidden/delayed damage Covid causes. Some other dangerous viruses have minimal or no symptoms during the infection phase but cause major damage later. HIV can have no symptoms upon infection, for years, but lead to AIDS, HPV can have no symptoms, and lead to cancer. Perceived absence of symptoms or damage in the acute phase is not a safety net or a reason to feel comfortable catching Covid repeatedly. Avoid Covid.

My husband had a life-threatening case of shingles affecting FIVE dermatomes including his head, face, neck, and chest. He has significant scarring and PHN. Covid depletes T cells, which leaves the immune system incapable of keeping things like VZV dormant. They want this HIDDEN.

@ryderseashells @cocomarvgrows Glad the uni folks are masking. People on the streets, public transit and the mall are not ~ That's where the hate is coming from.

My Twitter break was interesting. Not restorative like people say… but it’s made a few things clear to me. 1. I miss the support I get here, warts & all. 2. After a couple of dramatic mask incidents out in the wild, I remember people are getting shittier in the real world too.

@Team2Jb @bitterbichon I had so many nights coughing as a kid due to colds turning into bronchitis. In university the coughing made it hard to study. I haven’t had that kind of coughing since Nov 2019.

@Team2Jb @cocomarvgrows Statements like that are so personal and invasive. I see people wearing sunglasses indoors -they have their own reasons for doing so.

@Squijibo @cocomarvgrows I had no stares yesterday and you know where I went. There were masked people everywhere I went so I was not the only one. At the university there were people in Breatheteq, Flo and Benehal in addition to blue/black surgicals and cloth masks.

@cocomarvgrows Things are indeed heating up around here. My wife is getting stares and glares for masking again. That hadn't happened for awhile.

As someone who is COVID-cautious, I understand the social pressure to wear something that looks unusual. That’s why, when I designed this Wear, I made it resemble a pair of cool tech headphones—so fewer people would feel the need to ask what it is or why I’m still concerned about COVID.
@ariannabetti.bsky.social@ariannabetti

@Engineer_Wong: for flying (if neck/muscles allow), AirFanta Wear is a game changer. Many thanks for engineering it. Unexpected bonus: it can be made to look more like high tech cool headphones. KLM crew has remarked on the 4lite a couple of times but so far... Not on the Wear.

3 years after infection, women who had COVID have higher risk of pre-cancerous & invasive HPV-related cancers. Invasive cancer risk increased by 67% for cervical, 131% for vaginal, 98% for vulvar, 92% for anal, & 78% for oropharyngeal cancer. link.springer.com/article/10.100… #LongCovid

@envidreamz @Squijibo @chelseacuzzocr4 Everyone won't get long covid as you know it but notice all the younger people dropping dead. Cancer is increasing, heart issues, and a host of serious health issues.

This is exactly why so many people can’t stay safe and keep getting sick. This belief system is so deeply embedded in the collective mindset, it shows up everywhere including every corner of society and even within our own homes. Society has normalized repeated infections like it’s no big deal. We have been taught repeatedly to see Covid as a quick illness and then move on. But that’s not how it actually works. And that disconnect is where the risk lives and why most of us are never really safe.

Every day, while the science marches on & we learn more abt what the virus can do, those around me build ever-higher angry walls of denial. Even the slightest mention of air cleaning elicits nothing but eye rolls, pursed lips & heavy condescending sighs.

@PacoOnPause The number of calm mongers who have aged like milk in just three or four years compared to the folks (even with long covid) who continue to take precautions and avoid infections who look radiant is always a source of subtle schadenfreude for me.

@DoorenspleetR When my son was in 4th or 5th grade a parent of one of his classmates was doing yard duty. She told my son he should take off his mask, saying, “Your mom will never know.” She didn’t know anything about his health status and risk factors, or those of his family members.

A kid wearing a mask is not harming anyone. It doesn’t disrupt others. It doesn’t endanger anyone. It’s a personal protective choice. So forcing a kid to remove it is usually about adult comfort, not the kid’s safety. Why this feels unfair Because it is unfair.
