Last night’s Kensington community Iftar was overflowing with community, joy, and creativity. This Iftar – launched a decade ago by Hasiba Haq, @ShahanaFromBK, Arts & Democracy, Caron Atlas, and an amazing set of community leaders – features Muslim women writers & artists. We celebrated with over 500 guests — a beautiful mix of the community of Kensington. We welcomed the great new DCWP Commissioner @saalevine. And of course the food was provided by the one & only Nowshin Ali of Jalsa (the food has to come from a woman-owned restaurant for a feminist Iftar).

We’re suing Instant Recovery, a Bronx towing company that has been breaking the law and scamming New Yorkers with illegal junk fees, overcharges, and cash-only demands. No more taking advantage of New Yorkers stranded on the side of the road.
