@eyesme80 @MarinaMedvin It’s a local politician’s wife man, it’s barely even relevant here. Gotta be more relevant stuff out there to focus on.

@roikfbuwgc254 You may have to go to a very nice restaurant in America to try that. Most of the regular restaurants that make sushi in America use a combination of long grain rice and jasmine rice. It's very different and I doubt Japanese people would say it's acceptable. But it's delicious!

@EiratheIntern it isn't so obvious, given that several first world countries *don't have that function in the supreme court*. The Netherlands and Switzerland don't. Uk kinda doesn't either. And the USA take from british common law, where parliament is sovereign in deciding what's constitutiona

@Caelrie @SeanTrende @TPCarney That’s just wrong. Less often, sure, but they’re way more involved. Re-grouting takes hours and hours. Men normally handle car maintenance (PITA). Even weekly mowing is an hour + lugging 50lb bags of trimmings. Laundry is like 15 mins of actual work.

@onwuatuegwu_n @ed_dems The vast majority of US schools don’t have the disruptions, fights, and drugs you see in movies. Shootings are tragically more common than anywhere else, but they happen to a few hundred students out of millions.

@ed_dems Modern setup and discipline is impressive. In the US most high schools end by 3pm with far more disruptions, fights, drugs & shootings in many districts. China trades longer hours + pressure for order & academics. Different priorities. both have trade-offs.

@Keller @Sim89776996 It’s not knowing how to build cars, it’s just not a level playing field. They have low wages ofc (esp compared to US union members), but the real cause is that Chinese companies in the auto supply chain get *massive subsidies* to make the cars cheap.

@Sim89776996 America could learn to build cars again. Google is a 4 trillion dollar company. Learning to manufacture things seems like it would be strategically valuable for Google in a future of AI and robotics.

Wow, I just learned that Waymo's next-gen robotaxi is built on top of a Chinese vehicle platform. Is Google's vision really to build a national autonomous rideshare across the US on top of a Chinese car? This seems insane. Is this common knowledge?

It’s actually worse, because China has no intention of playing the role the US has played for 80 years. The critics of the US-led order are going to like what comes after even less.
Roman Helmet Guy@romanhelmetguy

China wants the USA to withdraw from world affairs so they can fill the vacuum. A lot of ‘America First’ people also want the USA to withdraw from world affairs so China can fill the vacuum. But like, in a based way or something, I’m assured. Also, learn about the Barbary Wars.

@Tsuyoi_Kuma @keeptexas1845 @LaCienegaBlvdss Price hikes aren’t equal tho. Also, not a. monopoly lol. We would have had a JetBlue that could compete with the big 3 and force them to lower fares, and some increases in low-cost routes. Now JB has free rein of the low cost segment, with no pressure on the big boys.

Lmao I told y’all. Even if you’ve never bought a ticket for a Spirit flight in your life you’ve benefited from the company’s existence. That’s why a federal judge blocked the merger between them and Jet Blue.

@kamb9s @Tangoat_1 @lm71060 @keeptexas1845 @LaCienegaBlvdss Depends on the likelihood of them surviving alone, and the price increases in both situations. Spirit was spiraling and JB couldn’t compete w big 3. Merging raises fairs where Spirit & JB competed, but they could compete with the big boys. Trade-offs.

@Tangoat_1 @lm71060 @keeptexas1845 @LaCienegaBlvdss Would you rather: 1. Allow a merger, guaranteeing increased fares for consumers 2. Block a merger, allowing a company to survive, hoping they can become profitable, allowing for decreased fares for customers if they succeed.

@GmaForDemocracy @natnewswatch Don’t be dense, “Americans don’t need” isn’t the same as “American refineries won’t buy”. Refineries in the US have more processing capacity than there is domestic demand, and Albertan crude is cheaper than American. Obviously they’ll buy it.

Most of men's things are not "on a weekly basis" but the individual things that crop up only occasionally on an individual basis, but all the time on a collective basis. Figuring out insurance policy changes. Fixing a cabinet. Removing dead bushes. Fixing a fence. Negotiating for a car. Managing investments.

@ProfToddC @TPCarney @AConcernedPare2 It being a “hobby” doesn’t mean it’s optional, what? If you have a lawn you don’t have a choice, you have to maintain it. If you enjoy cooking that can be a hobby too, doesn’t mean it’s not housework.

@TPCarney @AConcernedPare2 The "hobby' kind of gives the game away. When a lot of the "work" is done by choice, it's not really in the same category as childcare, laundry, cooking etc.
