I've been made aware of the influence our media studio has. Not just the numbers of people we're reaching, but where those people sit. For 5 years we've been documenting the software design industry — annual survey data, weekly founder conversations, documentaries filmed inside companies, a talent network of designers navigating this shift in real time. I have a vantage point I'm trying to do justice to in our stories, our reporting, and our experiments. But I have to reconcile ideas that are genuinely at odds: - We make clickbait thumbnails to get nuanced reporting in front of people who need it. The game and the work live in the same house. - I'm optimistic about AI long-term. I'm concerned about what happens to real people in the next 18 months. - I have strong convictions about what designers should do right now. I also know that "should" from a position of influence can do damage. - I've invested hundreds of thousands of personal capital into this. Taken on debt. Turned down money that didn't align. Our team still needs more than we have. It's hard. I'm anxious. I'm hopeful. Last year our manifesto was about the importance of play and curiosity. This year it's about truth and contribution. I do not believe we have to ignore the exhaust we produce in order to race toward unprecedented opportunities. That's where I'm working from. And it's in service of the world she's going to inherit.

I’m giving away the system behind every big result in my coaching program. For free. This is the exact sequence I used to grow my own agency to $3M. I proved it first. Now I share it freely.
