@cwamidon But nooo this is why our goods are so expensive your team is making too much money. We need to forfeit that luxury to our adversaries.

#ICYMI from @FBISanFrancisco: Seven Chinese executives and four of the world’s largest shipping container manufacturing companies were indicted for conspiring to restrict the output of — and fix the prices of — nearly all of the world’s standard unrefrigerated shipping containers. The multi-year conspiracy roughly doubled the prices of standard shipping containers between 2019 and 2021, increasing the container manufacturers’ profits approximately one hundredfold during the COVID-19 pandemic and global supply chain crisis. @EnergyAbsurdity Full repeal will face strong opposition from people who care about America unlike you. Thankfully.

🚨Jones Act Waiver Data Makes The Case For FULL REPEAL The Trump admin's March 17 waiver of the archaic Jones Act has delivered a masterclass in why this 1920s protectionist law must go. In just ~50 days: 45 voyages, 35 foreign vessels, 30+ ports, dozen+ cargo types. Not replacing U.S. ships (tanker fleet fully employed), but unlocking trade the Jones Act blocked. 🔳Gulf-to-West Coast fuel trade explodes: 1.59M barrels of diesel moved, 4x last year's total. Demand was always there, but the crazy law suppressed it. Even reverse naphtha shipments from CA to TX (zero last year). 🔳Puerto Rico finally gets U.S. propane: America is a top exporter, yet no Jones Act LPG tankers existed. Islanders imported from Chile instead. Waiver brought 3+ fuel deliveries + propane. This "self-imposed embargo" ends when waiver does. 🔳California wins big: 21 of 45 voyages tied to CA — Gulf, intra-state, PNW. Farmers gain from anhydrous ammonia shipments too. 🔳Bakken crude to PA: Domestic oil replacing imports, exactly as industry insiders long admitted. 🔳Each voyage equals an economic win for America: cheaper/more reliable domestic supply vs. costlier imports or shortages. Latent demand for this mode of domestic trade was massive. This is no longer just a theory. It's proof the Jones Act doesn't protect American commerce — it blocks it. We’ve known this for many years, but lacked data to show it. Now, thanks to this waiver, we have it. Time for congress to do the right thing with this ancient, counterproductive law - toss it onto the ash heap of history.

@0R0_Research @cpgrabow Where would you have them "source construction and sailors" from, guy who's neither sailed nor constructed?

@scorinbuffet @cpgrabow I think an overhaul of merchant marine policy is coming soon that will take care of the impact of releasing the US from the Jones act. Ships will be ordered for the merchant marine to be on commercial duties with Jones act restrictions as to source construction and sailors.

Look at all the 🇺🇸 trade that's now happening without the Jones Act in effect. And the Jones Act fleet is still fully booked. This is all extra shipping, from Americans to Americans, that's happening just because government got out of the way.

@cpgrabow Ok.. Colin's job is white collar, his job will be automated in 5 years and he's scared. He hates the fact that the people that actually contribute to society are beating him. His hands are soft. And he doesn't know what to do about it but post JA fud

@DominicJPino @DominicJPino you're very silent on this. And your post is very misleading, suggesting that the jones act is "not in effect" and that this a benefit to America. Care to weigh in on why you condone undermining critical infrastructure and your specific experience on this matter?

@TheRealNALee @DominicJPino and what Lee? The price of our fuel goes down and you hail the success of waiving the jones act?Or it goes up and you say that's because we need deeper waivers? Or are you just deflecting from the fact that you can't answer the question. What is your experience with this industry?

@jansramek @johnkonrad The Bay Area is a treasure trove of marine machinists, fitters, welders and electricians. But they need to hurry. A lot of that old knowledge is ready to retire.

The biggest shipyard in China and the biggest shipyard in South Korea both fit inside the Solano Shipyard. 6.5 miles of waterfront on a federal deep-water channel used by Panamax class, destroyer-sized ships. There are 365,000 skilled workers within 50 miles. Just sayin'.

Latest shipbuilding numbers are out from BRS and they are not good. China had gone from 51% in 2022 to 70.9% in 2025. That is from 2,107 ships to 4,055.

@meritech2 @PTrubey @DominicJPino I'm not sure what you mean by "you guys" and "snuffed out container shipping" but I bet you a microwave/toaster/refrigerator etc in that scenario would be able to be repaired indefinitely and last your whole life 😂 how many microwaves have you bought lol? I'm on like number 10

@scorinbuffet @PTrubey @DominicJPino Again, you guys would have snuffed out containers like a mob hit if you could have. Globalization made a microwave something I could buy for $50. Your way would have it some luxury product still for 4x or more to buy it.

@meritech2 @PTrubey @DominicJPino No, things will be 3-5% cheaper. Everything will still be too expensive for average Americans and we'll have handed our adversaries a foothold in America domestic shipping. Nobody knows what happens after that b/c nobody's been dumb enough to try.

@scorinbuffet @PTrubey @DominicJPino Will ports become more inefficient? Will ships stop being built? Will cargo go unloaded without your ancient decreed position? Or will you simply have less pay and say?
