#CityLis alumnus. Library worker. Hufflepuff. Probably getting older. Definitely going bald. Views my own except the stupid ones. They're my brothers.

@wylie_alan It isn't easy to see how the structure of the Public Library sector in England and Wales makes any sense. Norfolk and Berkshire have similar-sized populations. Yet, Norfolk has one library service, and Berkshire has six.

Just having a look at todays opening times re Public Libraries in different London Councils and it’s a fragmented mess with some completely closed, some closing half-day and some open normally. Staffing shortages & cuts (and some common sense I guess). #londonlibraries

@hulkbrarian The Colour of Bee Larkham’s Murder by Sarah J Harris has a central character with Synesthesia. They’re a UK author, but I think the book has been published in North America

#LibraryTwitter I need some book recs. We need more books featuring or are written by people with disabilities (all types). We did an audit and our collection is lacking… any recs please send them my way! Thank you!

@theDWshow @David_Kitchen_ They’re not a monster or that central to the plot, but I’ve always liked the Robomen from the Peter Cushing movie. I think it’s a pity they’ve never been used in the TV series. Visually, at least, they’re probably better than the Dalek Troopers.

@Si_Hart I don’t want to be accused of starting a conspiracy theory, but how do we know Elon Musk isn’t really Mark Zuckerberg in a Scooby-Doo mask?

@theJeremyVine @RBKC Is this the same cycle lane that Nigel Havers had a hissy fit about in a letter to the Evening Standard? If so, it seems a bit harsh to be blaming Kellogg’s Cornflakes.

@jjb3621 It’s difficult to justify investing in high-speed rail unless the government is also investing in regional rail networks. I don’t think it’s coincidental that Cornwall is one of the most deprived areas of the UK and lacks infrastructure.

@Saund65 I don’t like to see managers lose their jobs, but it doesn’t seem to be working with Dean Smith. Marcelo Bielsa would probably be a better fit for the club and its supporters.

@jjb3621 It's reasonable to argue that HS2 is the wrong project, in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Having said that, if we want to try and prevent the most extreme climate change, we need to build more high-speed railways.

@melon_h If he's interested in political history, he might like The Art of the Possible: The Memoirs of Lord Butler. It was published in the 1970s and has an honesty that seems to be lacking in many modern political memoirs.

My godson is really developing an interest on Politics and International Relations, he is 17. What book or books would / should be essential reading for him?

@DoctorWhoNovels The Knights of God is another favourite from my childhood. Bearing in mind it was broadcast in a family time slot, it contained a lot of mature themes. It also doesn’t patronise its audience. It trusts them to cope with suspense, traumatic drama, and realistic violence.

@DoctorWhoNovels I love The Box of Delights and re-watch it every Christmas. At the time, it was the most expensive children's TV series produced by the BBC.

@wylie_alan I think it was mentioned on the Byline Times Podcast that MfL has links to a number of organisations funded by the Koch brothers. They’re clearly part of a highly coordinated campaign being fought by the Ultra Right.
