FLASHBACK FRIDAY: There’s some videos I take at training that I can’t quite believe. I recall one of the coaches smirked when Caddy used Laverde as a step-ladder two years ago. But there was one contested ball drill in July 2019 which I could not believe how hard they hit each other. You could hear the oohs and ahhs. I was the only one watching it. I wondered whether I should publish at the time. I decided not to. The new ruck rules which ensure ruckman start on opposite ends of the centre circle and jump at the footy will definitely benefit both our ruckman - Lachie Blakiston and Nick Bryan in my view. I had luch with Simon Madden a couple of months ago and he has been a huge advocate of this adjustment. It brings back the art of ruckwork. Umpires used to sneak a look at the stats on the AFL app but the AFL cracked down over integrity concerns. Now they are flying blind. Some senior umpires have asked the AFL for stats but have been knocked back by the league. I feel for them when their job is to officiate and vote

@CalTwomey I mean yes they need to pay up more - but they shouldn't have to OVER pay for the player. If your example is correct, pick 2+12 is worth way more than pick 1.

Clubs are aware to match a bid at No.1 next year, for instance, they might need to secure picks No.2 & 12, as an example. It's going to be hard to match bids but the door will be left open if a club is willing. They've been told they will be given rules next week before trade.

@FOXFOOTY Is this the problem with Brad though? Zach is seeing something in Sam that is doing "whatever it takes"( pardon the pun) to win at all costs. And if that means meeting contracted captains he will do it. Maybe he wants Brad to be that ruthless in pursuing other players
