Dads with young kids Is it normal to just feel tired and burnt out all the time? It’s like you don’t even really get the weekend to recover because it’s all just kid stuff the moment you wake up Arguably the only personal time you have is when they nap (and you’re already dead tired by that time) or the hour after they go to bed but before you pass out Just trying to figure out if I’m doing something wrong

I suspect we are about to see a lot more Chinese cars on the road. 🇨🇳 brands dominate the Melbourne Motor Show. Lots of models coming later this year or early 2027.

@avidseries Less teenage pregnancies is good, but the reason why is not. Gen-Z are doing less risk-taking behaviour all round (drinking, smoking, driving, sex) because they're not DOING anything. They are terminally online and never go out. That's not good.

This, along with the declining divorce rate and record-low smoking rates and the fall in drunk driving, are all very good things that rarely get discussed in online doomer circles. The rightwingers who think that teenagers having babies is a good thing (because it gets women started earlier in producing offspring) are typically the same weirdos who want to lock women into archaic gender roles.
Jill Filipovic@JillFilipovic

I think it's good that fewer teenagers are having babies.

@taipan168 It is, you get a fine of like $500 in Melbourne. And it's enforced as much as fares. If the authorised officers checking MyKi's see you with your feet up that's an instant fine.

If only this was the case in Australia. Putting your feet on the seats of a train is disgusting. Best thing about the Mariyung trains is that the seats aren't reversible so you avoid this problem.

The rash of extremely young women having babies is so bad that I heave a sigh of relief when I hear about a 41 year old having her first baby. Like finally an adult

Drove this brand new Mazda 3 around SW WA for a week, and it was a very nice car. Good handling, overall economy of 6L/100km, a proper auto not a CVT, managed dirt roads with ease and had a nice smooth ride on its 60-profile tyres. No idea why people don't buy more of these.

I’m actually really surprised to learn that for the United States that bangs on so much about Christianity that Good Friday and Easter Monday are not federally mandated public holidays for the whole country 🤔 Here in Australia the whole country gets a 4 day long weekend, and those who have to work get paid penalty rates for it.

@mikjcal wait, really? Good Friday is not a public holiday in the U.S? Here almost everything is closed on Good Friday, you can't even go to the supermarket. It's the biggest holiday aside from Christmas Day.

“Just go electric” tell that to the farmer running 350,000 litres of diesel a year to bring food to your table. When that diesel runs low, farms stop. There is no workaround. Seeding and harvest windows do not care about logistics; miss the window by a week and your crop is gone for the year. A contract farmer preparing to strip 8,000 hectares doesn’t have a backup plan. He either has diesel or he doesn’t. Dairy is one of the most exposed. Milk gets collected every day. The Australian Dairy Farmers president said a fuel interruption hits the supply chain almost immediately. Without diesel no food moves and supermarket shelves running on just in time freight start emptying within days. Australia exports valuable resources and then re imports the fuel that runs our farms. We’ve had 14 years to fix the reserve shortfall and haven’t. We built this vulnerability ourselves.
van00sa@van00sa

Australia is sitting on 23 days of diesel while the other side of the world is at war. Over 90% of our fuel is imported, with only 2 refineries left. We have been non compliant with the 90 day IEA reserve obligation since 2012. Japan and South Korea hold 200+ days. Australia hold only 23. Australia is one of the most resource rich nations. We export the majority of our uranium, coal and gas, import the refined version back and then wonder why a conflict +12,000km away affects people in australia. This is a policy crisis.

Christ people are morons. Just like February 2020 when people hoarded toilet paper despite there being no shortage nor interruption in supply, thereby causing the problem. Hope that none of that hoarded fuel catches fire…🫣 theaustralian.com.au/business/minin…

@sebbisg @Hitchslap1 One is religion, the other defines your privileges and limits the governments infringement on our liberties. You attempting to rape, murder, steal, etc means you give up your liberties and the government or individual can stop you. Having a heartbeat does not entitle you to me.
