@LPDonovan Right I just think it’s interesting as a view of “Lucasworld’s” take on things. Though Spanberger turning herself into the Dem Tom Corbett or Sam Brownback is a funny prospect

@KeystoneObsrvr Ha, TIL. Ben has been one of the more plugged in VA dems on here from the beginning so even more interesting if they're eating their own.

Fascinating in that Gov power in VA is fleeting by virtue of constitutional limit against consecutive terms, so leg can usually bet on outlasting the incumbent from either party. And/but a gambit like this has to happen early if you're going to pull it off, let alone benefit.
Ben Tribbett@notlarrysabato

I’m going to say something out loud that will help make sense of things in Virginia. Spanberger is planning primaries to all of Senate leadership. They are looking at candidates against Lucas, Deeds, Locke and Surovell. Everything else makes sense if you see what’s coming.

It's common for Israeli officials to marvel at how many munitions the U.S. military expends. "It's as if they've never had to conserve ammo and don't know how," I've been told.
John Hudson@John_Hudson

The US fired more than 200 THAAD interceptors in defense of Israel — roughly half of the Pentagon’s total inventory — along with more than 100 SM-3 and SM-6 interceptors. By contrast, Israel fired fewer than 100 of its Arrow and around 90 David Sling interceptors

@EsotericCD Between Trump jumping in and doing the exact opposite of the 2012 R autopsy and winning twice and whatever this document is, you have to wonder on the utility of these things as an exercise at all

Jeff Blehar is *BOX OFFICE POISON*
This really is an amazingly half-assed DNC autopsy. It doesn't read as if it was ever finished or discussed, it reads like someone just pulled the plug after reading the initial draft, thinking "this can't be saved." They were right about that! Why are we reading it now?

@jimgeraghty Have to imagine some type of “Union” or outright annexation is the mid to long term plan for Russia vis a vis Belarus.

Belarus doesn’t get as much attention, or blame, as it deserves in the ongoing “gray zone” warfare against NATO’s Eastern flank. Belarus’s President Alexander Lukashenko is always playing Jaws to Vladimir Putin’s Blofeld. The fact that Putin deployed nuclear weapons to Belarusian soil and that this week’s large-scale military drills are aimed at testing Russian readiness to deploy nuclear weapons should have gotten more people to sit up and take notice. nationalreview.com/the-morning-jo…

@Ejmiller25 It’s less the actual amount spent and more the constant habit of effectively setting money on fire unnecessarily.

If you're constantly eat out for lunch and the occasional dinner, you're spending $150/wk that you otherwise wouldn't have if you packed homemade sammies. But Gen Z is ordering out 7-9 times a week.
Danae Hudlow@danae_hudlow

When I saw Kevin O'Leary criticizing Gen Z for their $28 lunches, I was inclined to argue, because I'm a millennial who remembers being accused of financial insolvency due to avocado toast. But these posts saying "What else are we supposed to eat for lunch?!" have me rethinking.

@Legal_Fil @ChrisOldman4 At some point you’d think the diminishing returns and the increasingly ludicrous “inside ball” races he inserts himself into (State Supreme Court races, Virginia gerrymandering?) would cause someone in his orbit to ask him to take a step back

@ChrisOldman4 The key to understanding Obama is that he is a miser when it comes to spending personal capital because, ultimately, the only thing he truly cares about is himself.

John F. Kennedy is emerging as a potential future statewide candidate in Georgia. If he wins this year, it would not be surprising to see him considered for races such as governor or U.S. Senate in the years ahead.
VoteHub@VoteHub

Georgia Lieutenant Governor GOP Primary 22% Reported: 🔴 John F. Kennedy – 75,682 (28.0%) 🔴 Greg Dolezal – 59,268 (21.9%) 🔴 Blake Tillery – 50,828 (18.8%) If no candidate wins a majority of the vote, the race will go to a runoff.

@kkondik @JMilesColeman @conorsen I’d imagine in large part because in Georgia Dems rely mostly on a large voting demographic (black voters) that are very partisan but not particularly ideological on some issues - sort of the inverse of left-coded referendums/judge elections among working class rust belt whites.

@conorsen there may be a process of partisanization that is just in its relative infancy in these nonpartisan GA races where incumbency status is noted on the ballot

It’s pretty clear that in the Georgia Supreme Court races, prediction markets were much more confident that voters knew the stakes of the races and would vote in a partisan way, rather than the reality that a lot of voters still had no clue what was going on.
