How many companies in Nigeria can actually build a cement plant? How many individuals even have the required skillset to build a refinery? At this point, your criticism of Dangote feels more personal than logical. What matters is that Alhaji is building, not just talking!
tyro@DoubleEph

This - from The Economist - is the first time this specific topic has been brought up in any major media in relation to Dangote. A complete lack of technological learning, upgrading or mastery after 20yrs of govt protection. Every other criticism I make of Dangote you can hang it on this one. It is utterly utterly shameful.

In the United States, companies do hire skilled professionals from India and China especially in tech, engineering, and construction roles. So what exactly is the issue with Dangote hiring Indians and Chinese professionals? Let’s criticize with clarity, edakun.

@Dontee___ How does that benefit Nigerians though? For instance, Dangote has not added new innovation to Cement manufacturing but keeps raising prices year on year to the extent that our Cement prices are more expensive than anywhere else in the world because importation is banned.

Why is South East not leveraging on @GeometricPower to improve electricity in that region? Note: 2: GP is designed to provide 24 hour electricity to The city of Aba and surrounding communities. -(a): the plant is “ring-fenced” meaning it is separated from the NATIONAL GRID to provide uninterrupted power through its own dedicated Natural gas pipeline from Owaza. 3: My advice: -(a): @SEDCgov should lead this battle to extend this project to all South East states by investing in GP. -(b): @SEDCgov should bring on board all the Govs of South East to collaborate and invest in GP @PNMbah @CCSoludo @FrancisNwifuru @alexottiofr @Hope_Uzodimma1 -(c): @GeometricPower should discuss with @ngxgrp to allow people to invest in their biz. -(d): GAMCO via @femigbaja could also look at GP as another vehicle for pilot program by having SOUTH EAST REGIONAL GRID. -(e): Gas companies will be excited when cash projections are secured and stable. -(f): local banks, abroad people should invest too. 4: The economy value of South East will be tripled if this proposal sails through @markokoyeII @AbaPowerOnline @Buchieagle @komofela83 @Onsogbu @Onyeani_Kalu @PresidentIkemba @sama_on_point @ProfEmeka @ObasaSanmi @slowcoach @DanNwomeh @AdaAnambra2023 @Jamessucre2 @chudi_chudia @chudi @Philadelphia625 @chudi19752475 @OselokaHObaze @DrEmekakalu @OfficialPigo @martinokorowu

I just watched Mark Okoye's interview on Gbam podcast and I just figured why I like the dude so much So much similarities So as a young investment banker in Lagos, he presentation in a meeting with Donald Duke earned him an introduction to HE Peter Obi who eventually appointed him SA on Investment Even as SA he earned his place in Obiano's Govt by proposing to him what he should do in Govt in the area of investment - he eventually wrote Obiano's manifesto for that campaign This reminded me of my journey with George Moughalu last year. On getting to his campaign, I was not satisfied with his policy proposals so I crafted a few points and shared with him Then setup a policy team and came up with the #RecoveryAgenda; boom he appointed me his SA on Policy Communication & New Media The main point I want to make here is that young people should learn how to come to the table with solutions. If you bring solutions to the table, nobody will be able to ignore you! Meanwhile Mark Okoye was earning 800k salary in 2012 + 18m yearly bonus? Crazy!!! So much to learn from the podcast!

South East Maths Olympiad will be the benchmark of measuring the quality of schools in the South East. A school who’s students are performing poorly in maths is a bad school. We will also use it for state education ranking too.

@ennyola0015 dont mind our businessmen with victimhood mentality. instead of @markokoyeII to use an SPV of @SEDCgov to build a cement plant with SINOMA on a FBOT model. he his more interested in MOU and conferences. key note. The only zone without a cement plant. The only zone with high price

Largest limestone deposits are in Ebonyi 🤷 but no cement factory. Largest coal reserves are in Enugu 🤷 yet the state went green. Africa’s largest gas deposits sit in Imo state 🤷 not a single drilling platform in the state. Nigeria’s longest sand beach is in Akwa Ibom 🤷 no tourism, no revenue. The country’s biggest bitumen deposits are in Ondo 🙆🤷 yet our roads use imported bitumen. West Africa’s largest market is in Aba 🤷 yet traders shut down every Monday. A nation rich in resources, poor in utilization.

Thank you, Kepukepu TV, for spotlighting Abia’s industrial direction — and thank you to everyone in the comments for the goodwill, prayers, and encouragement. I truly appreciate it. For clarity, I’m Hemenandu “Heme” Bob-Nwachukwu — Founder & CEO, HemEco Renewable Solutions (HemEco Geopolymer Cement Industrial Platform), Amiyi-Obilohia, Isuikwuato, AbiaState. X (Twitter): @hemebob A few quick points, since many people are asking questions: 1) This is not “magic” or a random experiment. Geopolymer cement/concrete is a well-studied, globally recognised materials pathway. What is new for our region is commercial-scale local production engineered for our conditions, with proper testing, validation, and quality control. 2) Safety + performance are valid questions — and we take them seriously. Our material performance has been technically validated with Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, and our strength range is in the 40–55 MPa band (mix design and curing dependent). Beyond strength, we focus heavily on durability, consistency, and repeatability — because in construction, it’s not just “can it be strong once?” It’s “can it be produced reliably, at scale, every day?” 3) On “big players coming for you” — I hear the concern, but please don’t panic. Before speaking publicly, we did the responsible groundwork: legal/IP protection, institutional validation, and structured engagement with the right stakeholders. We are building as a compliant, documented industrial project — not as a social media stunt. Competition is normal in industry; the best protection is strong governance, proper documentation, quality systems, and credible partners. 4) People asking for distributorship / supply: Thank you. We are organising our supply and rollout carefully (because cement is not a product you “rush” into the market). If you want to be considered for distribution/offtake/partnership, please DM me here on X or reach me via my profile — include your company name, location, and the volume band you can take monthly. Finally: I’m grateful to H.E. Gov. Alex Otti and the Abia State Government, as well as PACE and all partners supporting climate-finance readiness and sustainable industrialisation in Abia. Abia can lead, and we intend to do our part — with seriousness, humility, and execution. Thank you again for the support. Please keep the prayers coming — and keep the questions coming too. Remain blessed ndị Abia.
