How does Moscow view Donald Trump at the end of 2025? One Russian paper today: “The US leader’s philosophy is closer to the values of Russia’s president, not the politicians of the Old World…he sees Europe as a liberal stronghold that must be destroyed…” #ReadingRussia

Ex Tory govt minister & MP Gillian Keegan, who lost her seat at the general election, uses her first appearance on #GMB to bash the unions Lest we forget, as the education minister Keegan went on TV to tell teachers to be realistic about pay demands while wearing a £10,000 Rolex

@jordanbhx Current WM Tram plans seem to date from the old County Council, abolished in the mid 80s… So 40 years to get the Dudley track going…

This should make everyone in the West Midlands very angry. If the govt won’t build trams in Leeds, do you really think we’re going to get the essential funding to expand our tiny network? #AbolishTheTreasury
Gareth Dennis@GarethDennis

@philatrail It's very much a cancellation. Treasury didn't like that a regional politician had said they wanted to build this and were progressing with the design to build it without asking their full permission first.

NISTA (the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority) which is a pure government gravy train factory which claims to be independent because it has an independent expert panel who are pretty much all in London, Oxford, or Cambridge. The usual story.

@NJ_Timothy As a Jewish west midlander, the history seems to be misleading Police Commentary to stave off protest , going back at least to the MacCurbin protests in the 80s. Community Safety knows I have raised personal antisemitism in the past, but they’ve not contacted me about this.

The police have been caught misleading the Home Affairs Committee about this, consulting the Jewish community, and various claims they made about intelligence from the Dutch police. They must be recalled to the Committee. For more info:

The justification for banning Israelis from Villa Park has been blown apart. Here's my take on the select committee, which raised more questions of West Midlands Police than it answered. We'll keep going until we get the truth. We must never surrender to the Islamists.

The police misled Parliament last week as they sought to justify the ban on Israeli, Jewish fans from Villa Park. They’ve apologised for misrepresenting the Jewish community. Today I’m publishing the proof that they relied on AI to refer to a match that was never played. 🧵

But the match was a fiction. It was an hallucination by AI. The Chief Constable admitted the claim was “completely wrong” and it was “a result of some social media scraping”. But when asked if it was done by AI he said, “No, not at all. We do a very comprehensive assessment.”

@jordanbhx I expected Willenhall & Darlaston Stations to be open ( despite rumours of just an hourly service) before Camphill, along with the Dudley tram extension. So why haven’t they be opened and is there a date… perhaps @RichParkerLab can say?

On this day in 1941: the Nazis established the Theresienstadt Ghetto in the Czech town of Terezín. Although it was a ghetto, it also functioned as a transit camp for Jews. While 35,000 people died there from disease and starvation, 87,000 - including German and Austrian Jews - were deported from Theresienstadt to killing sites in eastern Europe.

The court's been told at the time of the offending, Lipscombe was a senior NHS executive working at @nhsuhcw but he told one of his victims his job "was more like a porn star". The prosecution is outlining the catalogue of offences he committed against six girls @ITVCentral

At Leicester Crown Court for the sentencing of Paul Lipscombe, 51, from Rothley Leics, who groomed girls on Snapchat before meeting them and sexually assaulting them. Lipscombe has admitted 34 offences. Some of his victims & their families are in court too @ITVCentral

87 years ago today, the November Pogrom known as Kristallnacht took place. Jewish homes, businesses and synagogues were attacked by German troops throughout the night of the 9-10 November, and 30,000 Jewish males were rounded up and taken to concentration camps.

Government Commissioners, being paid £1200 a day, are not needed. Those same commissioners stopped a deal that would have ended the dispute. ‘Birmingham City Council was probably never bankrupt’ rings out from a number of papers this morning. Unite repeatedly advised the Council that their figures were simply wrong, as was their legal advice. This is a disgraceful tale, yet again, workers and residents are paying the price for a crisis and incompetence not of their making. It’s time for Government ministers to step in to end this mess once and for all - ensure a fair deal for the bin workers and the people of Birmingham.

@Baddiel After reporting (in the West Midlands) being antisemitically abused (by an angry white man) -several months later I was asked how my community could be better protected. I’m not religious or part of a local Jewish group & this seemed puzzling to the Official asking me this…..

Once again, this category error. Antisemitism is not prompted by whatever faith Jews practice. Nazis didn't ask whether or not the people they were rounding up kept Kosher.
Home Office@ukhomeoffice

No one should have to live a life in fear because of the faith they practice. That is not the Britain we stand for. In addition to existing support, up to £10 million in new funding will protect synagogues, Jewish faith schools and community centres across the UK.
