Likely no one cares, but I've decided I'm done with Twitter. There was no particular precipitating event, I just feel like it's a net negative and I'm going to stop.

@NBCPolitics This is a propaganda J6 hit piece written by partisan hack leftist activist disguised as a journalist Ryan J Reilly. @ryanjreilly State controlled media needs to be eradicated. He and NBC are the voice of Communism.

@JDHaltigan What downright false misinformation has Stelter trafficked in? (I don't know who he is; I don't watch CNN, or TV, really.)

Imagine the levels of delusion you have to have to post this as a left wing journalist who has regularly trafficked in the most grotesque downright false misinformation for at least the last decade.

@QTheLibertine1 @PhilipWegmann @elonmusk I sure hope you're right, but given that Trump has already taken a multi-billion dollar payoff to change his position on one minor issue (Tiktok), it's hard to believe there's not a lot more coming.

@shteivred @krishnanrohit Nah, this is just acknowledging the reality of what AI can do *now*. Give it a few years and a few more leaps in capability and we'll be back to AI replacing people... because it will be happening.

@krishnanrohit It’s not just political, of course. It’s just more accurate. AI hype cycle is moving fast to people realizing it’s not the end all be all substitute for humans, but it’s a pretty good tool enhancer!

@mmeJen @shawnwillden Yeah he was definitely not “a joke” in the sense of being a nonsensical figure of scorn. He was just another idiosyncratic celebrity personality. It wasn’t until he became a political challenge that he was demonized

And here’s their latest. It’s a full blown demonization campaign. Every figure associated with Trump is a scary “supervillain,”—rhetoric that shuts off the rational brain, turns tribalism up to 100, and gives their echo chamber audience the unearned satisfaction of being heroes for going along with it. I’ve come to believe that above all, the media is the cancer.

@shawnwillden @cmdicely @mattyglesias I think the better constitutional argument would be that since Trump won in 2020 but it was stolen, then he has the right to be in office for the whole 3 terms. I think you could argue that only 2 terms are allowed unless there is fraud or some other excusable circumstance.

@GordMagill @scottlincicome @oren_cass When you say the roads are a mess, what are you referring to? I can think of several things you might mean, I'm just trying to understand which one(s) you do mean.

@scottlincicome @oren_cass I’ll come and tell you how your advocacy for free trade in truck drivers has turned our roads into a mess and resulted in American drivers wages being at 50% of what they were in 1980, and what was supposedly a free trade arrangement has actually been propped up by the state.

They realized they can't defend globalization at all so they're going with this instead. Friends, let me tell you about Joe. He's just a guy who wants to make iPhones. For you. For cheap. And maybe you've got some soybeans that he wants too...
Scott Lincicome@scottlincicome

Globalization isn't a thing. It's billions of humans freely cooperating for mutual gain in billions of ways, without direction from any one person, company, or government. It’s around us all the time; its benefits far outweigh its costs; and it’s been going on forever:

@shawnwillden @mattyglesias Outsmarting something is finding any way to get what you want without the consequences outweighing the benefits. I think Trump is very, very good at that.

@centralvision1 @mattyglesias I don't think Trump is good at outsmarting anything, but his willingness to ignore norms and the consequences of breaking them is exceptional, and his faction is large enough that someone is likely to find any loophole.

@cmdicely @mattyglesias With all the unfair criticism already, they are entitled to do recess appointments. Senators should not publicly state whether they will confirm until after the hearings. Dems broke the norms.

@PaulRoundy1 @owenbroadcast True! Though I don't think they intend to limit it to the institutions they don't want. The others will also staffed with loyalists. I hope I'm wrong, but I think we're returning to the spoils system... but in a complex world that requires greater expertise.
