@NC_Renic Professors should give problems that AI can not solve, but only help to solve.
For that professors will have to actually think

@RehamKhan1 @MirzaBilal__ What’s the breakeven number of hours spent in line (time cost and petrol used cost, with A/C on in the summer heat) vs. a price hike of Rs 50/ liter and an average tank space of 40 liters? You save Rs. 2,000 and end up spending more than that if you wait more than an hour…
English

Cars queuing up for miles in Islamabad to get Petrol before the price hike tomorrow.
Apparently it’s going to be the worst price hike in 50 years.
Did Pakistan not get even one tanker free for the diplomacy?
I guess we should just start cycling & work from home. And the expenses of CM houses, PM houses, Army offices, perks & privileges of all in public service cut by half at least. Convoys of luxury cars should be stopped too.

@ZulfiqarAhmed69 @MechaShafay There are multiple industries in Pakistan that am have started using some of our molasses: one is producing baking yeast, several more are producing industrial alcohol. Great potential still to be tapped for more bio-chemical / biological industries.
English

@MechaShafay We do. China uses this molasses to make disposable cutlery.
English

Do we export molasses ?
Its rate in Int market is very low.
Zulfiqar Ahmed 🤔@ZulfiqarAhmed69
60% of the citric acid used in Pakistan for manufacturing food and cleaning products is imported from China. The main ingredient to make citric acid is molasses; few tanks and air compressor etc. Everything is available in Pakistan. Why can’t we manufacture it in Pakistan?
English

@ZulfiqarAhmed69 @zohaibsadozai9 At that scale it’s not a serious play and you would be irrelevant (also lower efficiency and even worse ROI). A serious and significant capacity plant was around ~$40 million if I remember
English

@ZulfiqarAhmed69 I worked on the feasibility: the CAPEX is too high and ROI too low to justify the investment. Chinese manufacturers keep international prices low via marginal pricing. Despite ample feedstock and no IP some industries don’t make sense locally.

@ProfRobAnderson I bet this is gonna be found to be causing overloaded kidneys and related diseases. Humans didn’t evolve to have a constant ship of water every five minutes. Waterholes are dangerous places and visited at considerable risk.

@TheSaadKaiser Who would win a chess match between Buzdar and Sohail Afridi? My money is on a draw. Both will probably fight over the rules…
English

CM Sohail Afridi’s performance is under review, and he is expected to be replaced soon. After a thorough assessment of his performance, some observers conclude that he has been one of the weakest Chief Ministers in KP’s history. Some also compare his political performance unfavourably with Buzdar. Whether Imran Khan will appoint a better Chief Minister this time remains to be seen.
However, history suggests that Imran Khan has never chosen highly competent individuals for key positions, and some of his selections have been criticised for underperformance.

@mobeenshafaat Turn off everything using gas and go check the meter. If it’s still running you have a leak.

@TalhaEjaz07ee @rogueonomist I attended Buhler’s innovation day. Utility scale “battery” solutions were presented that are not traditional batteries at all. Just a pile of concrete blocks that can be heated up in the day and released heat at night to generate electricity.
English

Utility scale batteries will not be lithium there is no need for utility scale batteries to be this light weight.
When the transition comes we will have options like flow batteries along with sodium batteries which is much abundant material.
Ammar Khan@rogueonomist
This is for the battery crowd. 630GWh is basically equivalent to Pakistan's daily peak consumption. The battery equivalent of that consumes enough lithium to be equivalent to Australia's full lithium output and 1.5x of Chile's lithium output.

Tennis players live 9.7 years longer than sedentary people.
Not 9.7 months. 9.7 years. Nearly a decade.
The Copenhagen City Heart Study tracked 8,577 people for 25 years and ranked every sport by how much life it adds.
Badminton: 6.2 years. Soccer: 4.7. Cycling: 3.7. Swimming: 3.4. Jogging: 3.2.
Tennis almost triples jogging.
A separate study of 80,000 adults found racket sports cut all-cause mortality by 47% and cardiovascular death by 56%. Swimming hit 41%. Aerobics hit 36%.
The question is why racket sports destroy everything else.
Three mechanisms stack on top of each other.
First, the physical demands. A tennis rally requires explosive sprints, lateral cuts, and sustained aerobic output. You're training fast-twitch and slow-twitch muscle fibers simultaneously. Most cardio only trains one system.
Second, the cognitive load. You're reading spin, predicting angles, adjusting position, and executing motor patterns in real-time. Your brain is solving spatial puzzles at 80+ mph. That hand-eye coordination and strategic processing builds neural connections that protect against cognitive decline.
Third, and this is the one researchers keep coming back to: you literally cannot play alone. Every racket sport requires another person on the other side of the net. That forced social interaction triggers neurochemical benefits that solitary exercise cannot replicate. Strong social connection alone increases your chance of longevity by 50%.
Jogging is you and your thoughts. Tennis is you, a strategic opponent, and a community.
Dr. Daniel Amen is right. The data is overwhelming. If you want the single highest-ROI activity for a longer life, pick up a racket.

@farrukhiqbal70 @NHMPofficial That’s for accidents. Not for knowingly setting up your cruise control over the limit.
English

Dear @NHMPofficial
I was fined for 105 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. Does this count as overspeeding? Is there a +10 km/h grace margin?
I had cruise set at 105 from Lahore and passed several checks without being stopped. Kindly clarify.

@UzairYounus We need to be carried kicking and screaming to this solar-battery-EV future. Please increase petrol prices MORE and raise electricity prices MORE. Accelerate the transformation! Insano ki tarha to hum transform kar naheen saktay.
English

A key part of my book Future Ready focused on scarcity of energy and how countries like Pakistan can leapfrog ahead using EVs and decentralized energy systems.
The ongoing crisis is an opportunity to push forward and accelerate this transition.
