During his ARM64 experiments, our contributor @sidihmeed found a number of bugs in our Win32 subsystem. In last month, he committed 16 PRs to #ReactOS; eliminating a GUI stall, fixing some API tests and improving general stability a little bit ;)

It’s been a lot of quiet hours behind the scenes, but I'm glad to finally share some solid progress on Raspberry Pi 5 support for ReactOS and WoA. I’ve officially matched ABI parity of ROS at the NT10 level (at least for the network stack), and the Ethernet driver is completely built and proven working on Windows 11. There is still some work to be done to achieve stable throughput, but hitting this first functional milestone proves the core implementation. The RPi5 UEFI work is also fully finished and will be published soon. A few glimpses of it in action below:

Initial SMP support on ARM64 is now implemented and already running on the Raspberry Pi 5. It remains highly experimental, but early results are promising. The SMP boot process has successfully handled several known corruption scenarios and race conditions. more smoke testing is planned to evaluate the gap between rosSmp and and linux/win 2026 is ReactOS year!

Works for syncing user-mode DLLs with Wine are continuing, as a part of NT6 compatibility effort on #ReactOS. Recently, DLLs of SHLWAPI and SHCORE (Shell Lightweight API) are synced with Wine-10.0. Many modern apps will benefit from this!

@OnyxCrack @reactos Wine is already integrated into the ReactOS project across all architectures and is maintained by the core development team, unless you’re referring to running amd64/x86 applications, which is currently out of reach but planned

@letsgetaparty two maintainers from the core ROS developers had already built smp for AMD64/x86 last year (Timo Kreuzer and The_DarkFire_ ) but the feature is still experimental on a dev branch

@sidihmeed @deo742780 Once Pi 5 is fully working, will it be easy or hard to extend the port all the way back to the Pi 3? I ask because - If easy, the Pi Zero W2 is the same SOC, and we could have TINY ReactOS machines! - If hard, it might be time for me to buy a Pi 5!

@WhatAintInside The same build can ran on rpi3/rpi4 but the drivers and hal support is still broken it means we can see the kernel live on them, both are added to the roadmap after finishing some basic Ethernet and sdio support for rpi5
