First, this argument existed long before 2020. Secondly, Ivy League universities are an extremely poor comparison point bc none of them are close to endorsing reliance upon a standardized test for admission. Proposing this would get you laughed out of an admission hall.

The Mets' home run leader has 21. Former Mets named Pete have twice as many😳

At the end of the standardized tests are not the best metric for admissions to anything. We need to abolish the SHSAT and commit to providing a quality education to all of our NYC students. We the rest of our schools were funded like the SHS it would be a different ball game

1 in 5 NYC public school students are Black, but at Stuy - our most prestigious high school - 3 of ~800 incoming Freshmen are Black. We urgently need state legislation to modify the admissions process. A single test should never be only factor deciding who gets in & who doesn’t.

@RenuMukherjee1 It’s not the only thing ivies require. But it’s the only thing these specialized schools require

@BrandondelPozo Im confused by your logic. Why is a single standardized test the only mechanism to evaluate ability? Surely an admissions process can be designed that ensures diverse and qualified students access our best schools? Indeed, Brown and every elite college does this…
