@WholesomeMeme Grease, mainly. And also that fast food isnt using good ingredients. Making a burger at home from fresh good quality ingredients and minimal grease is pretty healthy

idiotic generic categories: "boomer" is the worst. "baby boom" was a term first used in People Magazine by editor Lanny Jones. it has since spread out, like sludge in water, to be used in reference to literally millions of people who have virtually nothing of substance in common except a vague category of "age."
Otherebecca@otherebecca

@OrevaZSN Why is it boomer art? I don't know anyone my age who cares about it,I wouldn't dream of reading an AI book, buy an AI painting or listen to AI music.

the fact is, Tyson didn't train for the fight; he lacked discipline; he couldn't be bothered to keep up his superb conditioning or the habits D'Amato had instilled in him during his, D'Amato's, lifetime. fights are not won, they are lost: especially in this case, Tyson just threw it all away. he does give reasons, in his autobiography. are they genuine? are they just excuses? Dougles/Tyson was one of the most shameful displays in boxing, ever; matched by the Holyfield fight with two (two!) ear-biting fouls. in 1986 when Tyson so brilliantly out-matched Trevor Berbick, no one would have predicted that one day "Iron Mike" would throw it all away.

@JoyceCarolOates The thing about the Douglas fight is how technical Douglas is. It's a perfect fight strategy- he clenched a LOT early on to keep away Tyson's body blows- and just a ton of jabs and jab crosses whenever he could. Used reach perfectly.

Thanks everybody here! I love you. You guys bought thousands of copies of my new novel these first couple weeks. I'm basically rich for the next couple years. Let's keep doing this! I only expected to sell a few hundred copies my first week. Shit, we'll sell 50,000 copies soon.

reproductions don't do justice to any work of art & especially not Rothko. it is odd how hostile (some) people are to art which they have never seen in person, only reproduced. just preparing canvases is a meticulous process for painters like Rothko, Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns. you speak as if any work of art is divorced from its context: obviously, it isn't. if you purchase a work of art by Mark Rothko you are also purchasing, in a sense, the reputation of M. Rothko which is the consequence of an accumulation of work over decades. if you purchase a line drawing by Picasso, you are also purchasing the reputation of Picasso which is the consequence of an accumulation of work over decades. what is it about this statement that is so difficult to grasp? apart from just hating artists who've been successful in the fullest sense of the word, what is the point?
Robert M. Payne@RobertMPayne1

@JoyceCarolOates It sold because of Rothko’s name, and the buyer wanted an investment. If it had been painted by Biff MacAdoo of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the price would be nowhere as high. P.S. I like Rothko. I’m not so sure that the buyer does.

amazing how many people, most of them apparently men, not only hate Rothko (whose work they've probably just seen on Twitter) but "modern art" generally. sometimes Twitter is akin to a pack of baying hounds. guessing that these fellows frothing at the mouth at Abstract Expressionism are the very same folks who believe that Helen of Troy actually existed; & that, since she existed, has to be 1) white 2) not-white; & that their opinion on this casting is very important.

for admiring the art of Mark Rothko?
