@FTusa284 Spot on. There is a lot of human factors stuff from the 80s and 90s covering all these issues. Used to be in my office cupboard!

@thinkdefence And TRACER to FRES and FRES to AJAX were caused entirely by the Army changing their minds - nothing to do with budgets, DES, government.... And thanks for reminding me, TD, that it's nearly 40 years since I wrote the initial TRACER requirement!

The British Army decided CVR(T) was past its best in 1991. FFLAV followed, in which one of the recommendations was CV90 in the heavy recce role. FFLAV turned in TRACER, TRACER turned in FRES, FRES turned into Ajax. Currently, CVR(T) is replaced with Warrior

@AndyGoode10 @EnglandRugby Poor quality match. Does anyone in the England camp know they are in the entertainment business? Looking forward to when we can say "great match, shame we lost"

@thinkdefence Why - because we needed time in Blighty when forces all over world! Today - agreed, less equipment support: must be military as this is what keeps equipments ready for operations

Mad question for you... Why do we need serving Officers in posts like HR, facilities and equipment support? Would civil servants not be cheaper?

Which NATO MBT had a 120mm main gun years before the other? We forget just how advanced Chieftain was, 120mm main gun, laser rangefinder and hydropneumatic suspension, in service in 1963. Leopard 2 arrived in service in 1979, M1 Abrams, 1986

#TankTuesday

#RBSL has designed and delivered many of @BritishArmy’s armoured vehicle fleets under different business names. Vickers-Armstrong at Elswick was appointed as ‘Design Parent’ for the #Centurion, the primary British Army Main Battle Tank (MBT) between 1946– 59.

In 1992, Staff Target (Land) 4061, more commonly known as TRACER, Tactical Reconnaissance Armoured Combat Equipment Requirement was to be the new CVR(T) replacement. It was cancelled, of course

Is this a reasonable observation? The British Army is addicted to discussing and developing concepts that it has no possibility of delivering within its most likely resource envelope, and that this is so distracting, it neglects the reality of delivery of actual capability
