NEW: America is a rich country. Britain is a poor country with one wealthy region.
People love to compare the UK to Mississippi, but it’s far more informative to look at UK subnationally, too.
London ranks fairly well, the rest of the country does not 👉 ft.com/content/e5c741…

@erichoke Long sermons are one reason why I left my last church.
One sensible preacher we knew said “If you haven’t struck oil in 10 minutes stop boring.”

An early visualisation of curtailment data is now live on my renewables map – a labour of love in my spare time – so you can now see how much output has been reduced and for how long
It's based on accepted bid-offer data from BMRS

Government by WhatsApp, or other unofficial, encrypted & undocumented channels, is undemocratic. Huge decisions, arbitrarily formulated without accountability in this manner, are prey to incompetence, illegality, & mischief. @IsabelOakeshott was justified. #transparency

@stillawake @tonys2009 You can usually access a PDF of a utility bill or bank statement online and print it off yourself. But bills are often in the name of just one person in a household so can't be used by lots of people.
English

@tonys2009 Same. I had an energy bill from 5 years ago and my bank doesn’t even have a bank outlet anymore. Luckily I’m married and had the certificate to hand. And it’s strange that birth certificates only counct if they’re British. That’s a bit limited.

“If they really are refugees, why don’t they have to stay in the first safe country they reach?”
“Why don’t they just claim asylum in France?”
Here is my answer, once & for all. To Jonathan Gullis, and to everyone else who ever wondered.
