I'm waiting for the day for when the Evangelicals ( MKC, Mulu Wongel, Mekane Yesus, Kale Hiwot and Hiwot berhan) all leave the "Protestant" faith and start a new one ourselves because i refuse to be classified under the same name with Chufa and Co. I HOPE!!!!!!!

@simplygenius2 With the Gospel, we apparently brought some problematic practices that stem from our struggles to be faithful in a state church context. We're trying to help with books (e.g. our bishop Matti Väisänen's book project), but of course, it's mostly up to you guys now.

@Vodrilus There were finish lutheran missionaries by the late 19 century and 20 century, they preached in the southern ethiopia, here its still a common thing to see laymen preaching in the southern synods

@simplygenius2 It's not uncommon to see theologically educated laymen preach even among the "evangelicals" here (different from American evangelicals). Our particular church discourages it.

@iconicernst Its does not have a single lineage, a unity of lutheran bodies, so till near times we had different rites/liturgies between us, and we as a result we have different successions

@simplygenius2 What makes Ethiopian Lutheranism distinct from the North American flavour? My understanding as of yet is that the Ethiopian church was somewhat hamstrung by unionism during Communist rule, as far as Lutheran Orthodoxy goes.
