In line with PM Shri @narendramodi Ji's commitment, the MHA is launching an initiative to provide commodities to the people of Manipur at reasonable prices. Now the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandars will be open for common people from September 17, 2024. In addition to 21 existing Bhandars, 16 new ones will be opened. Among the 16 new centres, eight will be in the valley, and the remaining eight in the hills.

Following this protests erupted across Imphal and several other districts on September 26. As per reports, nearly 50 students sustained injuries after police resorted to lathi charge, shelling stun grenades and tear gas. But there are several questions that still remain unanswered after the pictures of 20-year-old Phijam Hemanjit and 17-year-old Luwangthoi Linthoingambi Hijam went viral. Where are the bodies? Where is the vehicle they were using? What made the government declare that the two had died? How were they killed? Can the government confirm that the last seen picture of the two is even real? How do we know it was the handiwork of militants? Why did certain valley-based groups first call it an honour killing and then backtrack? Chief Minister N Biren Singh also tried his best to appease people. Through a post on X (Twitter) on Tuesday evening he said that a special team of the CBI along with the director would reach Imphal on Wednesday. But at this point, nothing seems to be working in Manipur. Mind you, this will be CBI’s 28th case related to the ongoing violence in the state.
