California resident says she was in the women’s restroom with her very young children at Whole Foods A man walked into the women’s restroom, “He's like a pretty buff guy wearing this itty bitty girl's skirt” She tells him multiple times this is the women’s restroom and he needs to not be in there, he’s making her and her kids uncomfortable “And he's just like ignoring me. And I tell him again. And then he looks up at me finally and he's like, do you not know the California law? I don't care about the rules, the law. Like get your butt into the men's restroom. Like there's a woman in here, girls in here, kids in here. Like that is so inappropriate. It was at Whole Foods in Roseville and that just made me feel so uncomfortable and just disgusted and honestly pissed off. So stay in your lane, like go to the men's bathroom. Like why is it that hard?”

@kevinburch Not selling anything, huh? What's with the link to this site? Believe it or not, the biggest incentive teachers have is to see students reach academic success. And if you think teachers & unions aren't calling for change, then you're ill-informed.

@slfriedrich 1) I’m not criticising him 2) I’m not selling anything 3) Teachers (and unions) have massive incentives to defend the system as is 4) The system serves kids really, really badly

@kevinburch The system, as you put it, is keeping a lot of kids alive. The system is made up of so many carrying adults who dedicate their time, money, and energy to help hundreds of thousands of children every year.

@j_fishback Do you have any clue how many kids would be neglected & uneducated if you paid parents to keep them home? Tell me you know nothing about the dire need for public education... I certainly will never vote to let my tax dollars pay for kids to waste away their days at home.

If you decide to pull your child from public school and homeschool your child You should get the full $13,000 for your child that would have been spent on your child in public school

@kevinburch Well, I'd say you have some pretty strong confirmation bias there, my friend! You're willing to trust a teacher & applaud their insight only when their beliefs align with your own. You:The majority who advocate for public ed must be wrong, not this one dude & his sole child! 🙄

@SandLot84 Similar thing happened to me. My son's friend was sitting outside in his family car in subzero temps bc both his parents were asleep (at 3:30 pm) & the house door was locked. He'd hung out at our place before, so we brought him over. Two hours later, we got angry call from dad.

Earlier today, two boys I didn’t know (roughly 12-13 years old) knocked on my front door. My house is about 200 yards off the road, so outside of deliveries we don’t see much front door action here. I answered, and one of the boys was bleeding from scrapes on hands, elbows and knees from falling off his bike. They asked if I had bandaids. Brought them inside, got them water, stuff to clean wounds, and patched him up. Offered to call his parents, drive them home, etc. They declined, thanked me and left. A few hours later, dad is banging on my door asking why I thought it was ok to let a child I didn’t know into my home. Motherfucker…why is your teenager not trained not to knock on strangers doors then go into their home if that’s your position? I sincerely can’t stand people. You can’t even be fucking human anymore. So demoralizing. Am I crazy?????

@IRaiderette Nobody's forcing Christians to have gay sex! That would be the equivalent of forcing a Muslim to eat pork in your flawed analogy. Besides, there's a story every week of a well-known, supposedly pious Christian leader who was engaged in homosexual or some kind of deviant behavior.

@Chaser892 @dr_owenanderson Maybe she was flustered bc you pulled a meaningless number from your ass. Men get sick. They get married $ have anniversaries. They have birthdays, graduations, etc. If, indeed, women control the card market it's bc they carry the mental load of motherhood in most families.

One of the things I think would surprise the general public the most about daily life in a university is how casually professors drop insults about conservatives, Christians, and white people and then play shocked when you call them on it.

@dr_owenanderson I remember one such casual insult from a professor way back in my university days, 1968-1972. For once, I was brave and rebuked her. She was gracious about it, but still assigned a classic porno book as part of the reading.

@placeholder___3 @dr_owenanderson Doubtful. One things professors can do with skill is talk on and on about a given topic & provide plenty of sources that support their claims. I haven't witnessed or heard tell of a single prof who "fell apart" when challenged by a student.

@lmc_58 @atrupar Bullshit. He didn't declare a national emergency. He signed an EO, which he does any time he damn well pleases. He signed 26 on his first day in office this term & he didn't wait to pardon cop beaters. He does what is politically adventageous to him not what's good for our people

Read up on the law dimwit. Pres Trump, by law, had to wait several weeks b4 he could use authority provided to him under “extreme circumstances” 2 pay TSA. Of course, if you all cared about DHS employee, govt employee, you wouldn’t take them hostage when you can’t reach an agreement.

@JennMGreenberg No matter how pious, no U.S. Christians are being persecuted. You understand what persecution is, right? I think it's telling you think ppl who support immigrants & oppose Israel's war crimes (eg the Pope) are "nominal," but judgmental folks like you are the real deal Christians!

I recently posted about Christianity being taboo in America and got some backlash. Here’s the thing. You won’t be persecuted for being a nominal Christian in America. In fact, America loves cultural Christianity. You can say, “God bless you,” and “Merry Christmas,” and wear your WWJD swag. That’s fine. But if you’re the kind of Christian who lives your faith; who defends Jews, calls abortion murder, is against “gender affirming care” for children, and p-rnography, you will absolutely be hated. Just the fact that people were mocking me for saying this demonstrates my point.

I emphatically agree on the needs of teens listed above. And for most teens, public schools are a horrible way to get those needs met. The US is rightly moving away from traditional public schools. In both AZ and FL, fewer than half the students currently attend zoned public schools. I predict that in 20-30 years, fewer than half will be in traditional public schools nationwide.

We have spent billions studying teenagers in captivity and building treatments for behaviors caused by the captivity itself. Consider the orca at SeaWorld. In captivity, orcas display aggression and dysfunction. A naive researcher studying only captive orcas might conclude that these behaviors are inherent to the species. We know better. Wild orcas are intelligent, social creatures who suffer profoundly from confinement. The pathological behaviors we observe in captivity tell us nothing about the orca's nature and everything about the harm of captivity. The same logic applies to studying adolescents. When researchers study teenagers exclusively in school settings, they observe anxiety, depression, defiance, disengagement, and peer cruelty. They might conclude these are inherent features of adolescence. Hormonal inevitabilities. Modern cultural problems. This conclusion mistakes the cage for the creature. Imagine if, for the past hundred years, we had spent tens of billions of dollars studying orcas exclusively at SeaWorld. Elaborate medications and treatments would be designed to reduce the extent to which those orcas bit the walls of their cages. We would never think to question whether the cage itself was the problem. That is what we have done with children. People today do not even know what children are actually like. They only know what children are like in schools. When you put young people in environments with agency, meaningful work, and genuine community, the dysfunction disappears. The problem is not the teenager. It is the tank.

@MrsCMFrancis Moms who don't work elsewhere in the world don't pretend like it was a mysterious secret kept from them. How many 20 year old bros are equipped to financially support a wife & baby? Are girls supposed to sit around for years after H.S. waiting for a mate with a decent salary?🤪
