Here is a simple fable hack for Claude. Start with Fable until your spec and plan are solid, then switch to Opus using /model to iterate. With every tool call fable re-reads the entire conversation, which gets expensive. Opus can leverage fables intelligence and is cheaper. You can also have opus implement as a background agent, but often this requires back-and-forth and steering. Opus is often more than capable of handling this.

I have been trying to find something meaningful to say about the Id Software layoffs. My “Microsoft will probably be a good steward of the brand” statement isn’t aging well, and this is certainly going to dampen the mood of the founder reunion at QuakeCon next month. I’m saddened, but I can’t muster anger or outrage over it. I don’t have access to the books, but I suspect that Id Software was a marginal business from Microsoft’s perspective. I believe the reports that Minecraft revenues have been carrying several other studios. To continue being produced long term, games need to succeed, not just be beloved. Games are competing with every other option for spending your leisure time and money, and the competition is brutal. You can’t rule out the possibility that executives are idiots, but that shouldn’t be your default belief. I don’t think there is any obvious path that would have doubled the revenue from Id games. Could they have gotten more with a different pricing strategy? Could they have created more things for fans to buy? Could they have cost effectively marketed in a way that reached more players that would have loved and bought the games? Could they have changed the game designs and broadened the appeal to more players without alienating existing ones? Could they have produced the games at a lower cost, faster or cheaper? I really don’t know. The game isn’t over yet, and I hope the studio rallies through.

As someone who lives in Portugal which already stops every single package you get from outside EU with no exceptions for a decade or more: I can tell you how this will go From now on if you receive a package from outside EU, it'll first go missing for weeks and nobody will know where it is, then you'll receive an email from your country's customs agency They'll make you login to some extremely unusable and outdated web portal which breaks half the time and where you have to classify your shipment in one of 10,000 confusing category codes Depending on the category code you'll pay a different tax rate, sometimes it's 5% sometimes it's 60% Then you have to pay the customs duty in some archaic way that will also be broken half the time And then you'll finally receive your package from outside EU after months Experiencing this for a few times you'll realize you will never ever try to order or receive anything from outside EU ever because the ordeal is too painful and expensive I get asked a lot here by people from US to test out new products (like the guy who made the Minimal Phone) and it's just literally impossible for me to receive it even for testing. I tried to classify it as samples for testing but you need to go through a bureaucratic process of insane lengths to get that through so I just gave up Realistically all this does is make Europeans live even more in the stone ages, as now they can't use modern AI, nor get modern products from outside EU because it'll be too much hassle to order

@HofiHood Subventionen für Geringverdiener und Arbeitslose werden vom Staat gezahlt. Beiträge sind unabhängig vom Einkommen und es gibt keine kostenlose Familienversicherung. Verpflichtende Selbstbeteiligung senkt die Anzahl der Arztkontakte. Private Zusatzversicherung ist Standard.

Ich war lange Grenzgänger in der Schweiz und somit auch in der Schweiz krankenversichert und wurde von einer deutschen Ärztin untersucht und regelrecht auf den Kopf gestellt. Und sie hatte nicht locker gelassen und dann festgestellt, dass ich nicht nur eine chronische Erkrankung habe sondern zwei und das fatale war dass die zweite in Deutschland völlig unentdeckt blieb und dass ich die Medikamente, die mir in Deutschland ewig verschrieben wurden wegen der zweiten unerkannten Erkrankung auf keinen Fall hätte nehmen sollen. Jedenfalls brauchte es noch ein MRT und 10 Minuten nachdem ich die Praxis verlassen hatte, hat mich eine Schwester angerufen und mir gesagt dass ich morgen entweder beim Röntgeninstitut A um 10 Uhr oder um 13 Uhr bei einem anderen einen Temin haben könnte, oder ansonsten könnte ich auch die paar Kilimeter nach Zürich fahren und da bis 23 Uhr in verschiedenen Kliniken vorsprechen. Ich solle ihr einfach sagen was mir gut passt und sie organisiert dann alles. Und wichtig zu erwähnen ist dass ich mich als Grenzgänger natürlich auch hätte in Deutschland krankenversichern können was aber über doppelt so teuer geworden wäre und das MRT eben nicht in Stunden sondern Monate später gemacht worden werden würde. Das deutsche System ist meiner Meinung nach dem in der Schweiz um Lichtjahre unterlegen und dazu auch noch doppelt so teuer
