Why yes, I did start a series exploring the Myth of the American Frontier just for the 250th. Sadly, there wasn't time between finishing my last series to get the first book ready for July 4th, but I've at least got the Kickstarter up to fund real pen and ink illustrations from @jholtillus kickstarter.com/projects/micha…






Word of mouth is the only trustworthy signal of quality left. Publishers put out crap Covers suck Influencers are paid Booktok people promote stuff they haven’t even read Plus, unless you have a product with mass appeal (eg romantasy), even an influencer isn’t going to move the needle much. A big influencer audience isn’t a big group of readers. They would have to be hitting an extraordinarily specific audience to be effective, and move people who don’t usually follow them for their book recs from “not looking for a book” to “buying this book NOW” The influencer model simply doesn’t translate well to fiction books But readers trust other readers
