A piece of my childhood just died. MTV Music signed off last night with the same video that started it all: "Video Killed the Radio Star." From moonmen to mosh pits, it shaped our youth, our rebellions, our dreams. Farewell to the era when music videos united us on one channel. I was 6 yrs old when Thriller from Michael Jackson debuted on MTV and I remember being enthralled. The world is not a better place without music TV 😢

Primary today: (looks through my hospital labs) "Oh wow, yeah, you totally could have died." Me: "I'm sorry, sir, what?!" PCP: "You're smart. When you get home look up 'Ranson's Criteria for Pancreatitis Mortality.' This can spin out of control really fast which is why Infectious Disease was involved and why they were blasting you with IV antibiotic. Your liver was already in the mix and they knew they needed to get your WBC count down asap. Me: "This is all new troubling information." PCP: "Better to know now than when you were circling the drain. But, hey, look how well you're doing and your surgeon was a stand up guy bc he admitted to putting the stent in the wrong place and that is something we NEVER see." Me: "I need a pillow fort, crayons and some chocolate milk right now...."😳🫣 PCP: "Don't worry, you're doing really well. I'll write you for more pain meds, but take as little as you can get away with!"

Update: I've been home from the hospital since last Thursday evening, and overall I'm doing really well. I'm taking less Percocet each day, but still quite limited. Even a brief trip to Publix had me in cold sweats today. I can only eat a mouthful of food here and there, which is weird bc I love food way too much. There have been a couple silver linings: 1. I have dropped now 15lbs in just a couple weeks into 2025, so that's at least been great! Usually I can only achieve that in a full month. How much do gallbladders weigh? (For my obsessed stalkers: I hit 205 with peak inflammation, so that puts me at 190. I know your entire lives revolve around me scale, so you can log this for 1/14/25 🙄) 2. I have had 6 months of peeing and coughing up blood and after multiple surgeries all that has stopped. I had a lot going on from bleeding ulcers to stones in gallbladder, common duct and pancreas. It all equated to a perfect storm of misery and sky high liver, and pancreas enzymes. Childbirth is nothing compared to a pissed off pancreas. It is the demon organ of your body! Easily the worst pain of my life. Morphine didn't even touch it. No relief until they gave me Dilaudid. I believe this is all due to a year on Ozempic. I think it nuked my gallbladder. This is my warning for the 100th time: Please don't take this poison for weight loss! *This update is only for those who care. If you don't, then keep scrolling. It just allows me to tell a lot of people how I'm doing at once.
