@Yourhouse42069 @paul4ner I think you're missing a few pieces. Yes, it was always meant to come out tomorrow but not for the reasons you think. It wasn't faked and input meant nothing, it's that Bungie designed it with that in mind so that the community could statically unlock it in time

@paul4ner Are you new here? They design these args like this. So it statically lines up with roughly when they want it released. They aren't new to ARGs they know when to push and when to reel it in so it lines up with when they want.

@vesseloftauceti No exploit belongs in any game. It's called an exploit for a reason. But plenty of games and up becoming better because of them. Balance it and the game becomes better. That is the only fact here that matters.

@solarphy I was there for D2 vanilla I’m very aware of how much slower it was compared to D1 and before the go fast update. You can move the goalpost all you want but no this is a different game and these exploits don’t belong in Marathon.

@vesseloftauceti Marathon literally already had grapple and power sliding. Things that are already way outside of the norm the pace of this genre. Just make the exploits use more heat and give them a cooldown

@vesseloftauceti This exploit is not so extreme that it can't have been in it... You are treating this game like it's tarkov when it's way faster paced than that. Skating did NOT belong in d2 either. I think you're really misremembering how slow D2 was. It was slightly faster marathon

@vesseloftauceti They can just make it so it uses up a lot more heat or give it a cooldown after x usage so it can't be used infinitely. The solution isn't always to nuke cool things that can very easily be balanced and kept in

@vesseloftauceti ? Over it's history, destiny 2 has had a VERY strong pvp audience (half the population) where these exploits also affected. But it wasn't so horrible that you can't learn to play against it. Same thing here. Destiny 2 was extremely slow in the beginning compared to what it is now

@vesseloftauceti And you seem to have completely missed my point. Both games were NOT designed with the level of movement in mind (you can literally skate half a map in that game), but Bungie decided to leave it in and it became a staple. Same thing can be true here.

@Geezaws2 It's an extraction shooter that already has leagues more built in movement than any other. This doesn't suddenly break it. It operates the same as warlock skating in destiny 2 (which is also an exploit that Bungie let in because it enhanced gameplay). You learn to play against it

A lot of the people defending the slide cancel in Marathon do not seem to understand that these exploits CANNOT exist in an Extraction Shooter. What makes an Extraction Shooter so enticing is the risk/reward. When you die, you LOSE something. And that's lost forever.

@isolatedrook Are you new to Bungie games? There are a ton of unintended movement tools discovered in destiny 2 that have become a staple of every day gameplay. This tech is not so horrific that you can't counter it. skating is something we have in destiny that people learned to play against

This has to be addressed and soon. Just because you call it 'tech' doesn't change the fact that its an exploit that gives one shell a massive advantage over the others.
