MAYOR MAY NOT: NYC Mayor Mamdani says his administration is exploring whether the city can arrest Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu if he visits New York for the UN General Assembly this month. Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, called Netanyahu a "war criminal" who "belongs in the Hague" and confirmed his Law Department is examining what legal authority the city would have to act on the ICC's arrest warrant. U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz fired back, calling the move "pure political theater" and noting the U.S. isn't party to the ICC treaty, head-of-state immunity applies, and "federal authority trumps any local mayor's wishes."
