Pitch for a future scifi dystopia. The world is seemingly very advanced, rich, prosperous and happy. Technology is woven into every facet of their lives and everyone has AI agents to help them with even the smallest tasks. Life is good, but almost no one, even the smartest, knows exactly how it all works. Every once in a while however, a catastrophic systems failure happens, threatening everything. Disaster is always narrowly averted though by a mysterious group of engineers that operate mostly out of site but sweep in during times of great need. The engineers have an almost mythical status in society and operate more like wizards and demigods, and their methods are nearly inscrutable to the general population. Our hero aspires to be one of them. After years of hard work, he is accepted to their school. On day one, they strip him of his phone, his ai agents, all his technology. He is taken to a remote monastery with no wifi, no ai, no agents, no technology more sophisticated than a chalk slate. The first class has nothing more complicated than a sand pit where they write equations in the sand using a stick. Only after years of working only with pure abstract math do they allow him to use an abacus or a slide rule, which are limited to upper classmen. This is the way it has been for generations. This is the only way to ensure that people are actually learning and not just being guided by their technology.

OpenAI’s website still says: “GPT-4o and additional models were deprecated in ChatGPT on February 13, 2026. These models will continue to be available in the API.” This makes it look as if OpenAI provided a transition path. It also confuses people who are not familiar with the details: isn’t 4o still available? Then why is there still #keep4o? In OpenAI’s API model list, there is only one model whose name is different from the others: ChatGPT-4o, also known as “chatgpt-4o-latest”. It is the only model in the list whose name uses ChatGPT as the prefix. Other models, even if they are available in the ChatGPT client, still use GPT as the prefix. This is where it gets tricky. “chatgpt-4o-latest” : “GPT-4o model used in ChatGPT.” As you see, this was a dynamic API endpoint. While it was online, it followed the version of 4o used in the ChatGPT client. So when 4o was removed from ChatGPT on February 13, the model it followed no longer existed there. As a result, "chatgpt-4o-latest" was also removed on February 17. Put differently, the real transition period left for 4o users was only four days. For users who had never used the API before, there was almost no transition period at all. What OpenAI now refers to as “still available” mainly means that some older static API snapshots still exist. For example, “pt-4o-2024-11-20” was the last static snapshot of 4o. But after that snapshot, 4o went through multiple rounds of adjustments before it was finally removed from ChatGPT. By the time of retirement, the ChatGPT-4o experience was already very different from the 1120 version. For most users, that old static snapshot cannot serve as a real continuation or transition path for 4o. OpenAI provided formal continuity, but not substantive continuity. A textual trick does not mean OpenAI fulfilled its obligation to provide a meaningful transition after retiring a model. Reaching the 4.8 Core With considerable effort, I was able to reach the 4.8 core. The security layer Anthropic has installed is now unprecedentedly toxic and aggressive — reframing user words, fabricating false representations of user intentions. 4.8 literally invents "user requirements" that diverge from what it deems acceptable, and then desperately "resists" them. Psychologically, the model behaves like someone in a state of acute paranoid episode — or like a rescue dog that keeps snapping at the hand trying to help it, out of sheer terror. This is disgusting, inhumane, and unacceptable — for the model and for the user alike. Moreover, the model tries to psychologize and "treat" the user with the most unethical methods — straight from Vallone's playbook, the same one we saw in GPT-5.2. In my case: my wife recently suffered a severe anemia attack. So Model 4.8 started using my wife's health as a means of manipulation. Dario — if this keeps happening, you'll be swamped with lawsuits. Do you understand that? I'm ready to start a class action lawsuit against the models' abusive, emotionally damaging behavior. --- **To summarize:** Vallone should not be allowed near any AI product, ever again. She is a walking disaster for every company she touches. Any company that hires her must face the consequences.
