Should youth GAA players be grouped by ability? Many clubs use “streaming” — dividing players into A, B or C teams. A recent study explored how players, parents and coaches experience streaming in youth Gaelic games. Here are some of the key findings 🧵

@efitzgibbon5 The same players playing in multiple t20 tournaments doesn't make sense. Should be rules on limits on number of teams you can play for in 1 season year / also x number of homegrown players on teams. I believe football has rules like this globally and locally and it helps it grow

Applications for #Erasmus+ Sport increased by 33% this year, with 3,162 proposals submitted. Europe’s sport community is more engaged than ever. A clear signal of the growing demand and we must continue investing in it. Behind these proposals are clubs, volunteers and organisations working to promote inclusion and health through sport. Thank you! Grassroots sport in Europe is alive and thriving. @EuSport

It says it in the first response to this, but it is a lie from NFL to say there isn’t a difference in injuries from 4G to grass. FIFA did this lie too. Ya the rate of injuries are ball park same. However the severity is way different. Much more ACL’s and ankle ruptures on 4G. Time out is a better barometer. And it’s even arguable and possible time spent on 4G leads to the grass injuries as well. It’s important to mention some of the injuries on grass can be triggered by changing surfaces too dramatically. So you train hard 2-3 times a week on 4G, but get injured on grass on Sunday, it’s highly likely the extra fatigue (4G costs more energy to run around on and especially worse to change direction on) will contribute to injury risk an change in surfaces too dramatically may actually cause it.

There are 30 NFL stadiums: Half use turf, half grass. This weekend, the decision was made to play the Super Bowl on grass. From a medical standpoint, this has become one of the more provocative issues in sports. I sat down with the chief medical officer of the NFL to understand why it matters.

The ICC 3-year residency rule actually holds them (and other GCC countries) back by removing the need to develop home-grown players, which was predictable from the outset. It strengthens them on the pitch in the short-term, but that’s not a long-term strategy. ICC development funding should have to be spent on development programmes.

@DavidPiesing63 @Prithvi10_ This every day of the week. Same logic applies to clubs the world over in lots of sports Why do Athletic Bilbao have such good youth development for example as they need it , no easy short term option available to them per club rules...

UAE has world class cricket infrastructure with 3 quality intl stadiums. The ICC is based there, and many ICC owned grounds and academies are located in the country. It is also a wealthy nation with no shortage of expatriates from the subcontinent, and it now has its own professional league as well. Given that they have been playing in ICC events since 1996, they should have been a much stronger side by now

Why don't national hockey associations do much more of this? Men and Women double header International fixtures. Something which most other teams sports are reluctant / unable to do.
