After they will retire, prominent Biden administration's negotiators in the Israel-Hamas will write in their memoirs how Netanyahu thwarted each and every reasonable deal. DON'T! You have two months to still prove that you'r worth: enforce a deal on Netanyahu.

Why would Congress hand the President-Elect a new weapon to crush law-abiding American nonprofits? My new piece explains why a counterterrorism bill the House is voting on this week is unnecessary, lacks basic safeguards, and is at alarming risk of abuse: ifyoucankeepit.org/p/congress-wei…

"We're doing everything we can to secure a ceasefire" the lying liars of the Biden admin tell us -- latest from UNSC ceasefire negotiations:"the US does not want the text to include CF (ceasefire) language, nor any mention of Chapter VII language according to our sources. Both CF and Chapter 7 languages were present in the original text of the draft."
Talal Al-Haj@TalalAlhaj

BREAKING 1) We have just learnt from our informed and reliable sources that four out of the five permanent members of the Security Council, have informed the Algerian UN mission - Algeria being the state entrusted with drafting the Gaza resolution on behalf of the 10 non-permanent members of the Security Council (E10) - of being on board with the E10 draft resolution. The draft demands in its 1st operative paragraph (OP1) for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. Algeria sent the P5 last Thursday a copy of the last draft revision for their consideration, and the only country that has not responded so far (at he time of writing this tweet) is the US. France, China and Russia have approved it, followed by the UK. Everyone is still waiting for Washington's response to the E10 draft. I am attaching below a copy of the ceasefire draft resolution. The US does not want the text to include CF (ceasefire) language, nor any mention of Chapter VII language according to our sources. Both CF and Chapter 7 languages were present in the original text of the draft. Algeria, in consultation with E10 member states removed the Chapter 7 language from its latest draft, amidst dissatisfaction from some who argued that the E10 group should go to the Security Council with the draft resolution under Chapter VII as it was drafted originally, without making any concessions or watering down of its content. They argued that the lives of civilians and children that are being lost by the hour, demand and deserve such a strong draft. They also argued that the US administration will instruct its mission in New York to veto the draft, as long as the draft resolution includes language related to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. Some of them also say, "Even if this draft resolution is issued by the Council with the US abstaining from voting, the US Administration & its National Security Council will describe it as a non-binding resolution, because it is not under Chapter VII. They did this in the past and their assumption was refuted immediately by the Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres himself..continue @Palestine_UN @antonioguterres @AlgeriaUN @EcuadorONU @swiss_un @JapanMissionUN #Mozambique @ROK_Mission @SLOtoUN @SierraLeoneUN @MaltaUNMission @_VanessaFrazier @USUN @UNGuyana @UKUN_NewYork @franceonu @RussiaUN @Chinamission2un @SigridKaag @UNRWA @ICRC @UNOCHA @UNICEF @WFP @CIJ_ICJ @IntlCrimCourt @KarimKhanQC @nawafasalam @FranceskAlbs @UN_HRC @USAmbHRC @EURightsAgency @humanrightsHRLC @ksamissionun @AzALWASIL @FaisalAbbas @UAEMissionToUN @LNusseibeh @StephDujarric @MelissaFleming @DicarloRosemary @arableague_gs

Noam Chomsky's latest book is not perfect, but it tells you more about US foreign policy than a lot of the pablum that US officials write to justify their actions. foreignpolicy.com/2024/11/15/cho…

Proud to contribute the lead essay to this wide-ranging collection on America's position in the world. My contribution argues US can remain the world's leading power if it acts wisely, but Trump's return casts real doubt on whether it will. theideasletter.org/issue/america-…

Looking at Trump's national security picks, seems like he's going for people who lack the standing, authority, backbone, or wisdom to stand up to him, no matter what he decides to do. #TeamofLackeys

TODAY: Congress is voting on a bill that would give Trump sweeping power to destroy any nonprofit that disagrees with him. Pro-Palestine groups would be especially vulnerable H.R. 9495 needs a 2/3 majority to pass the House, so it's up to Democrats whether it passes or not.

Donald Trump wants revenge. And he might get a major assist from Democrats in making that happen. On Tuesday, Congress is poised to approve a powerful new tool that Trump could use to crush his political enemies Scoop by me, via @theintercept theintercept.com/2024/11/10/tru…

Some people are missing the point. Democrats didn't lose because Harris campaigned with Liz Cheney. But Democrats may have lost because they became the kind of party that thought that campaigning proudly with a Cheney was a good idea.
Stephen Wertheim@stephenwertheim

Biden and Harris ran for president as the candidates of the system, right down to campaigning with Dick Cheney’s daughter, Liz. They touted her moral rectitude even as most of the country knew the Cheneys for sponsoring foreign policy disaster. Thread:

This is terrifying. Congress is set to vote tomorrow on a law giving the Treasury Department authority to deem any nonprofit organization to be “terrorist supporting," without explanation or evidence. On that basis, it can revoke its tax-exempt status. theintercept.com/2024/11/10/tru…

This is a massive media scandal. @SkyNews posted a video accurately describing what happened in Amsterdam. It described violence perpetrated by Israeli football hooligans, and their hideous racism. They then deleted it. This is the original.

It’s going to take time to sort through what happened Tuesday. But I've read a lot of takes the past few days (some good, many bad), and I've had a lot of people ask how I won one of the toughest districts in the country by over 13%. Here are some thoughts: 🧵
