@LRSerling There's a similar issue with people using mostly pop science to find a "line" where people are "full adults" (they often use the prefrontal cortex "maturation" as a hallmark but that continues into your 30s and might not represent "maturation" as much as "crystallizing")

To be clear, i do think modern society infantilizes teenagers too much. But this idea that "in the good ol days teenagers were adults!" just isnt true. The past placed a lot of responsibilities on teens that we dont, but weve always thought you werent fully matured till your 20s

Rome required men under 25 to have cosigners on any loans. You werent allowed to hold public office till 30. They didnt have our idea of teenagerhood but they didnt recognize teens as full adults either. The first toga just meant you were old enough for any responsibility at all

@ettingermentum there was also a very real constituency of WWC voters in south/appalachia that had a preference of Clinton > McCain >>> Obama, for mostly racial reasons. I don't think it is crazy to think Hillary wins West Virginia, for example.
