You don’t need impeachment to remove a judge from office. Article III already provides its own standard and mechanism: judges “hold their offices during good behaviour.” That clause defines both their tenure and the condition for forfeiture — meaning their authority ends when they cease to act in good behaviour. Impeachment, found in Article II, applies to executive officers and was never designed as a judicial removal process. Each article of the Constitution governs its own branch’s powers and discipline: Article I allows Congress to expel its members, Article II provides for impeachment of executive officers, and Article III uses the good-behaviour standard for judges. Reading impeachment across articles collapses that separation and misreads the framers’ structure.
