@Watch_LFC He understands the club and the power that Anfield possesses - something Slot has never grasped. He won the German league that has been dominated by Bayern, undefeated. Madrid was not a situation to judge him on but a difficult job to turn down

Does anyone have a truly legitimate football reason for why they like Alonso so much? 1) His Leverkusen team's build-up play was much slower than any of Slot's teams have ever been. If you've been complaining about slow possession football, then it's illogical to then beg for a manager whose system is slower and more possession-centric. 2) Do we really want to become a team that uses a back 5? 3) He failed at Madrid. 4) Slot's LFC smacked him 4-0. The biggest reason I can find is "aura" which basically translates to people just fancy him a little?

@rudkin_abigail but how do you protest the current situation? How do you show the hierarchy we're no longer able to palate the way the team is playing? It's a two-way road the players need to inspire the fans

100% correct. Nothing is going to get better if we become more divided and decide to leave the team out there on their own. Yes, we want to see more fight and belief from them! But nothings going to get better if we all walk out before it’s even decided.

Szoboszlai wasn’t ‘blaming’ those supporters who left early. He said he understood the anger/frustration and admitted the players underperformed and lost control in that dreadful second half. His point was that in difficult times sticking together is important and he’s right.

@SimonBrundish It's really tough to watch. We won our first five games of the season and hoped things would improve. It just shows the current process is unsustainable we'll come unstuck. It's all so passive

@empireofthekop You'd be inclined to believe we might improve from now until the end of the season if there appeared to be a change of approach. But we continue to do the same things that have led us here so the chance of change is minimal to none

"To close the gap [to the teams above], it means you have to win a lot, and that's not what we've done this season. That's why it has to be better, and we have to come close to perfection." 🗣️ Arne Slot on the need for perfection at Liverpool

@JamesPearceLFC Unable to beat Forest, Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland at home over the last two months would suggest thinking we can go near perfect until the end of the season is either an unbelievable turnaround or pure delusion. Guess which way I'm leaning

@stehoare I think a lot of the ire (at least for myself) is there was no need to say anything about Ramsey. Klopp never came out to say anyone wasn't good enough. You don't know injuries and suspensions will play out and you might need those players. Nat Phillips, Rhys Williams, Clyne

There’s a fair few reasons for Liverpool supporters to be upset with Arne Slot this season but I’m not convinced that him not picking a right-back who couldn’t get a game in League One is worth getting that agitated about tbh. If my job depended on it, I’d be picking Szobo, Curtis, Endo etc at right back ahead of Ramsay too tbh.

@Watch_LFC Depends on the perspective. If you say Liverpool have won 2 league titles in 5 years (which is true) then that implies we're on the up and should continue challenging. If you say we've won 2 league titles in 30 years (also true) then that implies we can be happy with a drop

All Arne Slot is saying when he mentioned 2 League titles in 30 years, is the fact that this club still has steps to take to become the kind of team that wins the League every single season like Man City/ Barcelona/ Real Madrid/ Bayern/ PSG. He’s saying we’re on that path but patience is required and the squad will improve with time. He’s asking fans to have some perspective. That’s all. It might not be what super “I exist to beef other rivals online” fans want to hear but it’s the truth and I knew we weren’t going to be favourites this season just because we spent a lot of money. Money can’t play football, players do and players are human and full of inconsistencies. Building a winning team is about growing together as a unit, over time, working through pain, building a foundation, a shared bond which allows them to almost think as one entity. This chemistry, this alchemy is what a football coach’s job is. To get 11+ individuals to operate together as one indivisible unit. Liverpool changed so much in one summer that it was always going to be impossible to just have the same standards, regardless of the quality of the individuals we signed. I said it at the time. Add in the fact that one of the team from last season passed away just days before pre-season started and you have a team that’s utterly been wiped clean of any vestiges of chemistry. A blank slate. This team will get better. Last summer was clearly the first step towards renewing us to be competitive for the mid-long term future. It was a calculated risk to suffer short term pain, try and mitigate as much of it as possible by signing top quality players but ultimately, it will be a transition period to get to where we need to be. And fans should know that and be more understanding of the inconsistencies we’ve seen this season. And this is why Slot reminds us about the 2 in 30 years — it’s a bitter pill to swallow but it’s easier to swallow the pill when you realise just how good this team had to be to win the League the two times it has won it in 30 years. The team in 19/20 was almost exactly the same as the team that came within 1 point of winning it in 18/19 and also won the Champions League. It was the culmination of multiple seasons of team building and fine-tuning. The team that won it in 24/25 was also almost entirely unchanged from 23/24. Again, another team built up over multiple seasons, with a bit of fine tuning by Slot last season. It’s not a surprise that in 25/26 we’ve built a strong team but there’s been no time to build cohesion and chemistry due to untimely injuries, let alone any fine-tuning. Perspective. It helps.

@WilsonCoxLFC That's a lie. Champions League football was risked when we went our worst run of form in 70 years and lost to Forest 3-0 at home. Results since have been slightly better but still risk finishing in the top 5. He's not leaving until the summer we just have to accept that

@WilsonCoxLFC by keeping Slot post PSV defeat at home after going on the worst run in 70 years and allowing him to drop points at home to the likes of Leeds, Sunderland and Burnley all while not investing in the squad means they have already written the season off.

Just like I said yesterday… would make no sense to sack him right now. Yet somehow I’ve been abused because all the other cowboys were making up lies about him being sacked yesterday? 😂
Anfield Sector@AnfieldSector

[🟢] @JacobsBen on Arne Slot: Liverpool retain the backing of Arne Slot. I think Liverpool’s plan is to review things at the end of the season. It would still be a surprise if Liverpool made any kind of mid-season change. Results would have to decline considerably. Liverpool haven’t had their head turned by the availability of Xabi Alonso. They had him as one of the leading candidates before Slot was appointed. And it probably is fair to say if Arne Slot goes at any point, then Xabi Alonso will be one of the leading candidates, if not the leading candidate. But Liverpool are not thinking of replacing Slot yet. They want to back him. Xabi Alonso would like to manage in the Premier League.

#LFC 🔴🚨 Arne Slot is given a big warning. The Liverpool hierarchy has delivered a clear message to Arne Slot in recent internal discussions: Do not continue to allow the team to be dominated in games on a consistent basis. The board has made it explicit that if this pattern of being overpowered and outplayed becomes a regular occurrence, Slot will be sacked before the end of the season despite the original plan to retain him until summer 2026. While the preference remains to keep him in place until the end of the campaign (to avoid mid-season disruption and maintain some stability), recent performances have already forced a significant alteration to those plans. The hierarchy is now monitoring results and performances far more closely, with the threshold for an earlier dismissal being crossed if domination issues persist. No immediate action is planned, but the situation is described as having a very short fuse from this point forward. A critical period ahead for Slot – the next few games could prove decisive in determining his fate.
