@newmrpford It can be difficult to find something to watch as a family that hits across primary, high school and adult. Overall was a pretty good show with good hosts. I hope it finds a new home and gets some tweaks

We’ve just extended the fuel duty cut for the rest of the year. This will support millions of drivers and families across the country. My Labour government is focused on what matters to you: cutting the cost of living.

I am hosting a roundtable in parliament house in June alongside @spenderallegra & @Mon4Kooyong so parliamentarians can hear firsthand from students about the devastating impact graduating with this much debt is having. We will also hear from Prof Williams & experts about the solutions govt can + should adopt to reform the failed job ready graduates scheme. We can't keep kicking this can down the road if we're serious about intergenerational equity. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

We have to start treating housing as something we want to be affordable, not just an investment vehicle so reforms that use tax settings to incentivise new housing supply are welcome. But I have concerns about how CGT changes could impact startups and small businesses. I've written to the Treasurer anout this & raised concerns with the Assistant Treasurer. We have a chance to ensure better tax treatment for people investing in Australian startups and help keep those startups in 🇦🇺 as they grow.

Getting compliance costs down for builders was a big focus of our Budget and we’re making access to building standards free. Instead of paying up to $1600 a year to access the standards, tradies will get them for free. That means more money in the pockets of tradies and small businesses and higher standards all round. Big thanks to James and the team at BM Sydney Materials for welcoming us in Cabramatta. @AnneWerriwa

Just a follow up to this mornings post. One of Fauci’s co-conspirators was Australia’s very own Edward Holmes who has received millions of taxpayers dollars to engage in Gain of Function research. 🔬 Edward Holmes co-authored the notorious Origins of Covid paper in Lancet that dismissed the theory that Covid was created in a laboratory and instead insisted that the virus came from nature. When I asked the National Health and Research Council about Holmes involvement in the coverup and why they continue to award this guy millions dollars, the bureaucrat was allowed to give his opinion which was a violation of the Senate standing orders. Instead of being told to retract his statement, the Chair allowed it to stand and instead shut me down. It’s criminal what the Australian government did to the Australian people and it’s criminal that Edward Holmes isn’t behind bars. The fact that Fauci turned to Holmes to cover up the origins of Covid, a scientist on the other side of the world, so soon after the outbreak can only mean one thing - Edward Holmes was an intelligence asset who colluded not just with Fauci, but our Intelligence Agencies to cover up the origins of Covid. This tells us that rather than seek out the truth and defend Australians, our own Intelligence Agencies are working against the Australian people.

Opposition leader Angus Taylor is promising, if elected, to index income tax scales to the inflation rate. This is not a good idea. For example, if inflation was 2.5%, the level at which a worker moves from a tax rate of 30% to 37% is lifted from $135,001 to $138,376. They are automatic income tax cuts in line with inflation. If inflation is 5%, as it is not, that tax scale would rise from $135,001 to $141,751. A huge rise and a huge tax cut at a time when inflation is ripping along. The problem with such a scheme is clearly that it is pro-cyclical. In an era of high inflation and an overheating economy, the rise in the tax scales will be big which gives large income tax cuts to the workforce. This would see the policy working against the RBA's anti-inflationary stance in this example. Interest rates would be even higher as a result. The proposal would make it much harder for the RBA to meets its inflation target and / or will require much greater volatility in interest rates as the RBA fights to offset the pro-cyclical nature of the the indexation of tax scales. And it costs a fortune - a chunky $23 billion in 4 years. youtube.com/watch?v=PaSZG2…
