Newcastle’s season is over and all that is left is to search through the wreckage for survivors. The manager will take the blame but I hope he survives. He deserve to but there were several players out there today who should hang their heads in shame. Some are cowards, some aren’t good enough and others clearly don’t want to be there anymore #nufc

I responded to Jamie Bryson’s call for unionist students to wear Orange Order attire 'retaliation' to GAA tops He says I’ve "missed the point" - despite me quoting him directly throughout You can read my full article online👇🏼 (or in today's @BelTel 🗞️) belfasttelegraph.co.uk/comment/opinio…

@TirChonaillAbu @1PhilipSmith @JonBurrowsMLA This is an unfortunate reality. It's easier to play to the gallery and shout about Gerry in the RA, than it is to get on and get shit done. However, talking about the past keeps them all in a job.

SF is losing support because it plays it too safe at Stormont. It absorbs DUP attacks, rather than answering them. Neither Casement nor the A5 have been built. SF can recover lost ground if it honestly addresses growing grassroots' disillusionment. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/comment/news-a…

@molloy1916 @Toibin1 certainly did himself no harm recently. His early support for those most affected by the Irish government's fuel greed, was a a bold statement that his Party are for the people. From what I could see, this was very welcome.

Another explanation for the slight drop in support for SF might be that republicans who were polled by LucidTalk stopped taking part when they saw the extremely prejudicial question about Gerry Adams and the IRA posed by the BelTel as part of its campaign to demonise Adams.

You have a squad with several players who have one eye on the exit door. You don’t point the figure at them. Look at their performances. You say they aren’t listening to the manager, maybe they just don’t want to be here anymore. This season has been difficult, not good enough in the league. It’s his first bad season in five. If you want to blame him for everything and think a new manager will do better, having sold at least two of their star players in the summer, feel free. I disagree

For those asking why I back Howe. Two champions league qualifications in four years having inherited a team destined for relegation. Won the club’s first domestic trophy for 70 years despite the club’s failure to sign a player to improve the first team since Tonali in 2023 because of PSR. Forced to sell Anderson and Minteh for PSR. Was left last summer without a sporting director and a CEO. lost isak on deadline day - the team’s top goalscorer and most important player - and missed out on Trafford, Ekitike, Pedro and Sesko as they went elsewhere for money and to club’s with more aura in London and Manchester. Yeah he’s made mistakes, but if you look at everything he has achieved I’d back him over anyone else to lead the rebuild as a manager with a proper recruitment structure in place #nufc
Luke Edwards@LukeEdwardsTele

Eddie Howe remains the best manager for Newcastle United and deserves the chance to rebuild the squad in the summer with a proper support structure in place. If he leaves in the summer, I believe the club will regret it. Probably swiftly and for a long time. This is my opinion. I have covered the club for 23 years. I watch them pretty much every week and nothing that happens between now and the end of May will change my mind. It’s fine to disagree. I’ve seen a few comments about where I’m from recently and the fact I’m not a fan. Like that prevents me from having an opinion on a club it is my job to cover and has been for more than two decades. This is my professional opinion as a football journalist. Lots of you will disagree with it. But I also know many of you agree with me because I speak to people all the time and don’t spend my entire day on here. Opinions vary, that’s absolutely fine #nufc

I told the PM that Newcastle Central and West does not support further UK involvement in the Iran War and asked him to confirm that Trump's US and Netanyahu's Israel are not reliable allies and we need to work with our reliable European allies in UK interests.

@wallacemick I think the vast majority of Ukranian people would disagree with you Mick. It's them and them alone who should decide the course of their nation and if that's democracy, EU membership and a market economy we should respect that and help them.

This is total nonsense. EU + Irish support for US #NATO Proxy War in Ukraine has been a disaster for everyone, in Europe, Ukraine + Russia. A mindless War that the EU spent Billions fueling at great cost to every citizen in Europe. The EU couldn't care less about the Ukrainians..
Leo Varadkar@LeoVaradkar

In my column today, I set out why financial support for Ukraine is 100% in our own self-interest. If Putin wins there'll be more refugees, more wars and price shocks. I also set out why the carbon tax and climate action can free the next generation from the roller coaster of fossil fuel prices we've had to deal with since the 1970's
